Every insane move that the US government has made over the past 22 years; the war on Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Ukraine, the exponential expansion of their military bases around the world (800 ++) their sanction wars on Iran, Venezuela, Syria, Russia, and every nation that dared to defy US dictates has all stemmed from the 911 lie called for by the Project for a New American Century (PNAC)

The official story or 'narrative' that they've stuck to regarding 911 is so full of holes that they've rendered science (physics, math, and chemistry) a joke. Also, the war that the corporate government has waged on anyone that's challenged the shoddy US governments narrative, from a solid professional perspective, continues as they’ve either been fired, censored, silenced, ruined or all of the above.

The global police state that emerged as a result of 911 has crept forward ever since and led to the totalitarian fascist world we’ve all experienced since their 2020 global scamdemic. Now, today in 2023, the US military is in charge of the response for future plandemics; a future war they will roll out on the global population down the road as the US banking corporatocracy falls further and further into bankruptcy.

Today, if anyone dares challenge any of the insane government narratives being shoved down our throats, they are declared an enemy of the state...it doesn’t take much imagination to see where this is going to go.

The US power structure is not only out of control, it has metastasized into a corporate fascist entity with its roots and tentacles in every puppet nation under its banking influence and or in its NATO dictatorship. Their future vision is war, disease, poverty, famine and a fascist police state.

Did you not see and hear their evil intent with your own eyes and ears over the past three years of their fake pandemic? I’ve seen it since 911 and its time everyone else did too! The Western Collapse into Fascism

As we move deeper into the winter portion of the 2021-2022 flu season, governments around the world continue to ramp up the COVID pandemic narrative that has now stretched on for almost two years.

In nation after nation, but most notably throughout Europe, America and the British Commonwealth, (O.E.C.D. Nations) politicians across the spectrum have shown themselves to be ignorant to any logic, they're irrational and subservient to shadow authoritarianism instead of being honest representatives to the public.

If politicians were inclined to be honest and representative of their people, they would be more attentive, sincere, and rational when communicating, while also providing transparency when investigating all avenues on issues of concern before making decisions and mandates that affect the entire population; such as healthcare. However, when governments including all the major political opposition parties within them, adopt an ideology that demands their populations obedience without providing proof, transparency or rational debate such as with unnecessary inoculations and a mandatory health pass, then not only are they comparable to fascist states of the past [01] but they also lose their legitimacy or claim of upholding human rights, never mind challenging other nations on theirs.

Mandatory Inoculations - The 21st Century Rubicon

The health pass, which requires mandatory inoculations, is the Rubicon of the 21st century, a crossroads that, when crossed, will annihilate individual freedoms forever if not massively confronted by the population today.

The world is moving in a totalitarian direction of forced inoculations for a typical flu virus that is 99.98% survivable while proof of inoculation will be required via a mandatory health pass that requires everyone to receive additional inoculations every 3 to 6 months [02]. Failure to do so, as we have seen, even now, brings out the attack dogs of government and mainstream media news platforms who generalize and label all who resist with derogatory attack words such as “Anti-vaxxers” and then go on to express their authoritarian approved solution that all anti-vaxxers should be rounded up and forced into compliance. (See Here [03], Here [04], Here [05], Here [06], and Here [07]), This type of fascist behavior is embraced and repeated often by mainstream media loud mouths on social networks across the internet. The fact is, they are in effect, pushing a distorted narrative on their audience with the sole intent of shaping opinion and isolating all those opposed to their belief, as the enemy. The outcome of this type of behaviour, as seen in past history, leads to violence, through division, against a section of the population…For lies repeated often, soon become accepted as the truth by the audience, and violence soon follows.

As it stands now, those who’ve not been inoculated with these sinister mRNA shots, are becoming more and more alienated from society while being restricted from social activities, events and travel (See Here [08], Here [09], Here [10] and Here [11]). Also of note is that those in agreement with the government propaganda have become more confrontational towards those who do not believe the governing propaganda. Just go into a store without a mask or with a mask that does not cover your nose and you’ll soon experience confrontation, even if you have a legitimate reason. Online, they attack in gangs such as in Facebook groups run by the indoctrinated. Posting information to a facebook group expressing worry and concern about inoculations, for example, brings forth a wrath of ignorance and confrontation by bullies that feel impowered by the governing propaganda. Of course, the post is also tagged by facebook censors which flags the post to begin with.

So, dignity, human rights and freedoms have already been taken away, while lofty fines and even prison terms are now being legislated for those that do not comply. These are not the signs of a nation that upholds human rights, but the signs of a nation obliterating human rights through an orchestrated propaganda program that is all based on fear!

Of course, the only thing keeping the COVID narrative going is a fraudulent PCR test which cannot tell if you are sick; as stated by the inventor of the PCR test himself, Kary Mullis [12]. If the general public had Knowledge of this PCR fact, and it was repeated often, then this fraudulent pandemic and governing shift into fascism would end tomorrow. However, that would mean, honesty and integrity would have to find its way onto the front pages of mainstream news.

Instead of well-informed democracies blossoming in all of our nations with truth, honesty and integrity, a consolidated one world globalized fascist police state is emerging under the guise of lies and corruption through an economic class of supremacists that controls all veins of economics.

What is the real reason, they are pushing the false pandemic? And why have western democracies turned into fascist dictatorships over the past two years?

Lockstep Affiliated Medical Governance

Governments around the world, regardless of political affiliation serve as puppets to what amounts to as, * an economic cartel.

Definition: Economic Cartel – a consolidated group of very wealthy families and oligarchs that own the majority shares in Private Banks and thousands of Corporations which controls national and global economic streams, political power, news media, entertainment, and influential institutions such as the W.H.O. (World Health Organization) by virtue of their economic influence, funding and recommendations. All of which does their bidding to create a shield for their consolidated criminal activities.

Governments around the world are in a lockstep affiliated medical governance [13] through the central governing directive of the World Health Organization [14], an organ of the United Nations that has no organized public or independent oversight to it with the exception of news media. But the W.H.O. and news mediums have been coopted by deep pockets while independent Journalists, doctors and professionals are censored by corporate behemoths that control all avenues to the public, including the internet.

How do you stop an organization that preys on you, your families and their future? The scope of what we are up against is massive and quite sinister, yet there is a way. One person cannot stop this massive beast alone, but, if we were to all stand up and confront it together, we would be able to stop it in its tracks and change the course of history in the process.

The only way to stop the sinister direction our world is heading in, is for a massive grassroots political resistance by people in every nation [15]. But that requires a well connected, uncensored, free and independent media and internet. Be the media! Get connected with independent media! Inform yourselves with information and connect with others online and in your neighbourhoods. Communicate. Organize and focus on human rights for all. Break the shackles of fear and economic slavery. Stand up and fight for your rights and for the rights of future generations. This is the moment you were born for, now is the time to stand up and fight!

Obama NOT to reduce spying

We’ve spent much of the afternoon detailing some of President Obama’s statements concerning his response to the NSA surveillance revelations, combined with some of the documents released by the administration. But a key point in all of this is highlighted in the Associated Press’s coverage of the press conference: President Obama flat out admitted that this was about appeasing a public that doesn’t trust the administration, not about reducing the surveillance.

President Barack Obama made it clear Friday he has no intention of stopping the daily collection of American phone records. And while he offered “appropriate reforms,” he blamed government leaks for creating distrust of his domestic spying program.

In an afternoon news conference, the president acknowledged the domestic spying has troubled Americans and hurt the country’s image abroad. But he called it a critical counterterrorism tool.

Even more to the point, his comments represent a fundamental misunderstanding of why the public doesn’t trust the government. That’s because he keeps insisting that the program isn’t being abused and that all of this collection is legal. But, really, that’s not what the concern is about. Even though we actually know that the NSA has a history of abuse (and other parts of the intelligence community before that), a major concern is that scooping up so much data is considered legal in the first place. So, when President Obama says that we should blindly trust the government not to abuse the data, that’s missing the point:

“Understandably, people would be concerned,” the president said. “I would be, too, if I weren’t inside the government.”

That’s not particularly comforting.

 

Corruption, Fraud and Thuggery by an Out of Control Montreal STM

Is the Montreal Transit Authority’s Claim of “OPUS Card Fraud” a Fraud itself and a Pretext to More Draconian Legislation in the Near Future? A look at Montreal’s STM (RFID) OPUS Cards, Fraud Claims, STM Security, and What Comes Next.

In 2008, the Montreal Transit Commission (STM) adopted a new system for their monthly bus passes and single fare ticketing from European corporation “Calypso Networks Association” (C.N.A.) with, the integration corporation “Spirtech” assisting in the implementation and engineering of C.N.A. software. 

Montreal had jumped into the RFID OPUS technology for monthly bus passes while also using a magnetic strip card reader for single transit fares. We were told then that the reason they were moving to this new $219 Million dollar system was to prevent Bus pass fraud in the old system.

On the surface it seemed that there wouldn’t be too many problems associated with this new technology, with the exception of the STM’S South Shore “Longueuil Metro Station” which did not, and still does not accept STM Magnetic cards bought anywhere else but in the Longueuil metro station. Not good if you prepaid all your STM trips somewhere else and do not have any money left to pay for an additional one…which did happen to me the first time I used the system going home from the South Shore. It was a very frustrating experience that I wont get into here.

The STM, Fraud, & OPUS Cards

Since 2009, Michele Labrecque has been the chairman and the primary representative of the STM. He oversees the performance and execution of the STM’s functions and powers…and, in agreement with other board members, sets corporate orientations. He also chairs the Board’s public meetings and approves the agenda in collaboration with the STM’s Chief executive officer and is the Transit Users’ Representative…

Recently, Michele Labrecque estimated that the STM saves $12 million a year on fraud by using the OPUS Card technology but did not give any details on how they do this exactly. His statement raised a lot of unanswered questions to say the least.

When you invest 219 million dollars of taxpayers money into a NEW system that is supposed to be Fraud proof and a benefit to the citizens, you certainly wouldn’t want to skip out on purchasing the Fraud Detection Option when purchasing this system…especially when stopping Fraud is the reason they bought the system in the first place. So it is very strange and disturbing to see more and more STM Security Inspectors harassing passengers for their tickets and bus passes in the name of Fraud.

These STM directives and security actions clearly state that either the system they bought is totally useless in detecting Fraud, that someone grossly incompetent is responsible for not acquiring the proper equipment and programming, or there is corruption happening inside the STM.

Regardless of the answer, the people of Montreal and the surrounding communities should not have to be shoulder the Orwellian directives by Government & Corporate decisions that harass the public, especially when the STM are to blame in the first place.

If Fraud is not a problem with this new technology, then why do we need STM Security checking everyone’s Monthly OPUS Bus passes and Magnetic Strip single fare tickets?

If indeed the STM has reduced Fraud by 12 million dollars as per MICHEL LABRECQUE, why is the STM giving themselves huge pay raises as stated in an article by the Montreal Gazette on July 25^th, 2013 to the tune of millions of dollars? And WHY have they hired an army of bus pass inspectors?

Does this 12 million dollar savings at the STM mean that STM management get to pocket this money? Are the STM Security Army, who also received big raises, becoming the cash cow tool of the STM’s corporate management? (See Gazette Report for security personnel salaries)

Failure to show these STM Inspectors your ticket will land you a huge fine and in the hospital if you refuse to budge, as was the case with me on August 03^rd, 2013. One might look at it as strong-armed tactics by the STM to ensure every passenger obays whatever they are told by STM Security or face being roughed up and fined without any recourse to challenge them…because the STM Board of Directors, who are also municipal legislators, passed a municipal law that grants this corporation police powers.

As stated in the Montreal Gazette on July 25^th, 2013 the STM gave themselves big pay raises. I wonder where they got the money to inflate their already massive salaries?

When the size of your STM Salary is dependent on growth and there are no other means to create that growth how exactly does one create growth and give themselves large pay increases?  All the pay increases of the STM payroll have to come from somewhere…and a job needs to be a benefit to the corporation for profitability. So I wonder why they have hired more people in the STM Security department?

The STM’s Michel Labrecque also stated that they want a 40% increase in rider-ship by 2020…in my opinion, harassing and beating up their customers is certainly not the way to go. If they keep up their current pace by treating everyone as a potential criminal, more people will stop using their system.

Coming to Montreal by 2015 OPUS 2.0

During his opening remarks for AQTR’s conference on Urban mobility in the age of electronic payment (Feb 25, 2012), the president of the STM’S governing board Michel Labrecque stated, “We transport millions of people…soon we will get to know who they are.” What Mr. Lebreque was referring to was the implementation of OPUS 2.0 and having access to all your personal information in the future on the Montreal Transit Bus Pass. Security related? Fraud free?

OPUS Background Info

The OPUS card uses RFID (Radio-frequency identification) technology which can be read by anyone with an RFID transmitter / receiver. The OPUS card technology is owned by “Calypso Networks Association”; this European company’s primary goal is to use this technology on all digital transactions worldwide and to eventually replace the worlds currencies to become the Global technology and system for all monetary transactions. We are already seeing this technology being used by the Banks through Debit Cards, and Credit Cards, but we are also seeing this technology on Medicare cards, Drivers Licenses, passports, and soon there will be an upgrade to the Transit Authority’s OPUS 2 Cards.

Is there OPUS Card Fraud in Montreal?

So if this OPUS card fraud is real then what makes the Bankcards safe and the Bus Pass not safe? The bigger question is, of course, why are we allowing our governments to bully us into this RFID technology if it isn’t reliable? On a larger scale, We are talking about a massive corporation merger interconnected with many national governments, banks, and powerful shareholders that have the potential to end all national sovereignty by economic merger when financial controls of this technology are in place. “Spirtech” is the company being used to help engineer the OPUS RFID technology merger between corporations, banks, and governments. So their claim to be a safe system certainly needs to be proven since it conflicts with the STM’s assessment…but then it’s all about control, money and security isn’t it; but security for who?

Is it really necessary for Montreal’s STM Security to harass transit passengers because THEY SAY there is fraud in the OPUS system? If the answer is yes, then what about debit cards, credit cards, and Medicare Cards? Are these same technology cards at risk of fraud as well? And if so are we to expect a future where security people threaten debit and credit card holders to show ID and threaten us with arrest if we do not show them what they want?

As far as “Spirtech” is concerned, programming is all that is required to secure the cards…If that is so, why is Montreal’s STM spending Millions of Taxpayers dollars to hire an army of security inspectors to harass the public, instead of fixing the system?

The South Shore Transit System (RTL)

The South Shore of Montreal has a different Transit System (RTL), which also adopted the OPUS card and has a combination OPUS card with the STM for passengers requiring both transportation systems. However the RTL did not choose to adopt the single transit fare magnetic strip cards, so there is no proof of payments or transfers for single use. Even still there doesn’t seem to be a breach of security with their OPUS cards nor do they employ an army of security people to harass their passengers.

The RTL does have an OPUS card for occasional RTL riders who can’t purchase a monthly rechargeable OPUS card. The commuter can choose to load 6, 12, 18 or 24 RTL trips on a Solo card at the regular rate ($3.25 each x number of trips). Valid on all RTL buses, where a transfer is automatically issued on the Solo card. But they do not have a single fare proof of purchase to issue a passenger when they pay $3.25 on the bus.

Although the Quebec Government represents both transit systems (RTL & STM) together for a better price when approaching corporations for retrofits or Spare Parts such as implementing the new OPUS technology, the “South Shore Transit Commission” (RTL), chose not to use the exact same system as the STM. The only difference is the magnetic strip single fare cards…and the number of security personnel hired…

RTL & Municipal Governments

I’ve learned that at the municipal council level of government on the South Shore there are Paid RTL representatives that receive a minimum $15,000.00 just for being an RTL corporate representative. In my opinion there is a huge conflict of interest here since the money comes from the citizen’s taxes to pay them this bonus over and above the salary they receive for being on the council. Those chosen to represent the RTL are usually favoured by the Mayor of the specific community, if, of course, they do not claim the bonus for themselves.

This got me to thinking, “Does the STM also Pay the City Councillors in Montreal and the West Island a Bonus”?

If we take a look at who is on the STM Corporate Board of Directors and the STM Committees the answer is “YES”. The same people are on both Corporate and government posts. My question is how much are these municipal government reps being paid just to rubber stamp their STM corporate directives? Am I wrong to think this is corruption?

Attacked By STM Security Agents

On Saturday August 3^rd, 2013, STM Security attacked me for not showing them the magnetic strip bus pass I received after paying for a single fare on Bus #204 in the West Island of Montreal. They put me in the hospital. The incident is an ongoing nightmare for me now because I will not take public transport for fear of a repeat performance by the STM Security. It also stops me from visiting my 87-year-old mother on the South Shore who needs help because of her complications from dementia. I don’t have a car nor do I know anyone here that can take me to the South Shore once a week so I will need to find a way to rectify this. I will not bow to this authoritarian minded corporation, nor will I allow my dignity as a human being to be trampled on.

One of my fears is based on being singled out by STM security personnel with the Security software programs the STM have installed with all of the security cameras throughout the transit system. “Facial Recognition Technology” allows the STM Security Inspectors to profile passengers at will and is reason enough for me to stay away from ever taking the bus again simply because I feel I will be targeted and because my plea for justice has fallen on deaf ears by the STM, Municipal Governments, Gazette, CBC, CTV and other mainstream media. The NEWS mediums simply have not done their jobs in investigating and bringing the public’s attention to the ongoing conflicts of interest, corruption, and unjust laws that enable thuggery by the STM and its security apparatus.

According to Calypso Network Association, the creators of the OPUS technology and the engineering group Spirtech that works with C.N.A., there is no Fraud with their system…but the STM hires security to run around all day long harassing passengers by insisting on checking everyone’s OPUS cards and magnetic strip single fare cards…In my opinion, the STM, which is a merger of government and corporation is a completely corrupt organization operating as a parasite on the tax payers of Montreal and the citizens of the surrounding service area’s. The STM and all it’s Board members need to be investigated through a public inquiry including a forensic audit investigation of their books. The Harassment by STM Security on the population using public transit has to stop!  

My Personal Request to the STM

I want an apology from the STM for their security personnel roughing me up and putting me in the hospital because I wouldn’t show them the ticket I had just paid for. I want a complete stop to the STM security’s harassment of the public. I want the $333.00 fine they imposed on me for not showing them my ticket to be dropped, and I want the STM to pay for the damages inflicted on me by their security personnel.

UPDATE: 2014 August 03

It has been one year to the day since the violent incident involving the STM and their belligerent security thugs who accosted me on Bus number 204 and put me in the hospital. Here’s what I hope will be my final update on this matter:

I challenged the ticket issued to me by the STM in court and won, in fact the judge shook her finger at the STM representatives for their brutality and warned that she hopes there will not be anymore incidents like this in the future by the STM and its security…not long afterwards the STM security blended into the background and stopped pulling busses over; this is a “Victory” for the citizens who use public transport in Montreal. We all win when a bully is put in its place. Stand up and don’t back down when you have been wronged. There are still some credible people within the justice system that know the difference between right and wrong. Peace!

Global awakening to false-flag terrorism, Copernican revolution

A friend called up our local radio station yesterday to complain: One of the radio hosts was supporting the official story of the Boston bombings, and blaming “radical Muslims from Chechnya.” The receptionist was shocked. “Did our host really say that? That’s so crazy. Everyone knows it was a false-flag attack.”

The incident illustrates the schizoid nature of Americans’ response to the Boston bombings. Increasingly, “everyone knows” it was a false-flag attack - including the ordinary people who work at radio and TV stations. But the powerful few who control the broadcast licenses, and print the news on dead trees, will be the last to admit it. At this point, the false-flag meme is just starting to enter the mainstream media.

As it does, the whole notion of “terrorism” is being re-thought.

The received notion of “terrorism” is that anti-government radicals are supposedly attacking civilians. But wait a minute - why would they do that? Why wouldn’t they just attack the government - especially the government officials, government-owning fat-cats and government-aiding media moguls who are the real objects of their hatred?

A recent headline screamed: Karl Rove Heckled Throughout Speech In Massachusetts, Called Murderer, Terrorist. Run “Karl Rove heckled” through a search engine and you’ll find many more examples.

If there were any real anti-government “terrorists,” Karl Rove would have been dead a long time ago.

For better or worse, there are very few actual anti-government terrorists. Virtually all terrorism is committed by governments.

Let’s take this from the top and define our terms. “Terrorism” means “using violence against civilians to create fear for political purposes.”

Who does that? Who has the motivation to do it?

Only Governments

It is well-known that governments terrorize the citizens of countries they invade and occupy. The US, for example, murdered many millions of Vietnamese citizens in a doomed attempt to terrorize them into submission. Ditto for Indonesia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and many other places. This is real terrorism - terrorism on a massive, genocidal scale.

It is less well-known that the very same governments also terrorize their own citizens - more subtly, and on a smaller scale.

In the US, militarized police forces terrorize African-American communities. Almost every day, an African-American is extra-judicially executed by police.

White Americans are terrorized in sneakier and less brutal fashion: They are fed a diet of violence and fear-mongering propaganda by the media. Those who break out of the fear bubble, and go to Occupy demonstrations, may have their skulls smashed by police billy clubs.

As the BBC documentary The Power of Nightmares explains, Western governments once ruled through fear, peppered by sprinkles of hope. Now that there is no longer any hope for Western economies, these governments rule almost entirely through fear. The Power of Nightmares documents the fact that the whole concept of the “terrorist threat” was invented out of whole cloth by Western governments: there is no actual group called al-Qaeda, and no such thing as any significant anti-government terrorism.

“Al-Qaeda” is the name of a ragged hodge-podge of dupes and mercenaries. They terrorize Syrians on behalf of the US and Israeli governments. And they terrorize Americans on behalf of the US and Israeli governments.

False-flag terrorism is designed to make citizens willingly surrender their liberty, their money, their power, and even their children’s lives.

The Boston Marathon bombing appears to have been yet another false-flag attack. The government tells us that there were no terror drills that day. But eyewitness reports, and a Boston Globe twitter feed about police exploding a bomb at the library, prove the government is lying. Why would they lie and deny the obvious fact that terror drills coincided with the actual bombing?

And what about the paramilitary team captured in photographs of the bombing? Men from the DHS-linked mercenary firm Craft International, sporting caps with the distinctive Craft skull logo, were photographed wearing large black backpacks like those that held the bombs. The photos place members of this paramilitary team at the bomb locations just moments before the attacks. Other photos show them rendezvousing after the operation.

The entire family of the surviving accused bomber, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, has been screaming “false flag” from the rooftops. Their mother says FBI agents “were controlling every step” her sons took, and called the event a set-up. Their father says “Somebody clearly framed them.” Their aunt pointed out that Chechens have been set up as patsies in other false-flag terror events, adding “I don’t trust (the) FBI. I don’t trust any agencies.”

And it isn’t just the Tsarnaev family. Everyone who knows the Tsarnaev brothers agrees. As Steve Watson reported for Infowars.com, “People who know Dzhokar Tsarnaev say it is impossible that he would commit an act of terror.”

Even the surviving suspect himself appears to be aware of the ubiquity of false-flag attacks. According to reports, his Twitter feed included: “Idk why it’s hard for many of you to accept that 9/11 was an inside job.”

If he still had access to his Twitter account, he would be tweeting: “Idk why it’s hard for many of you to accept that the Boston bombings were also an inside job.”

But more and more people ARE accepting that 9/11, and most other seemingly senseless attacks against civilians - including the Boston Marathon bombings - are inside jobs.

The global awakening to the ubiquity of false-flag terrorism is a Copernican revolution that overturns the old paradigms about the way societies are governed.

This “great awakening” offers us the chance to overthrow the old paradigm of rule by fear, and to work for a better world - a world of fearless people ruled by wisdom and compassion.

Canadian protesters to show faces or get 10 years in jail

Canadian lawmakers weren’t exactly in the Halloween spirit when they approved a new bill on Wednesday. The legislation makes it illegal to wear masks during riots and protests. Guilty parties could face up to 10 years in prison.

Bill C-309 passed with a vote of 153 to 126 in the Canadian Parliament. It will now move on to the Senate.

If it becomes law, mask-wearers at riots face up to 10 years in jail. Those busted wearing a disguise at an unlawful protest could be sentenced to up to five years in the big house.

The sanctions would not apply to those taking part in peaceful demonstrations or protests.

Parliamentarian Blake Richards, who sponsored the bill, says the measure is aimed at targeting the “growing threat” of vandalism and violence.

Lawmakers are particularly targeting the Black Bloc anarchist group, whose members dress in black and hide their faces with glasses, scarves, and hoods. The group engaged in violence during the Quebec student protests earlier this year.

MPs supporting the bill are unsurprisingly thrilled that it passed through parliament.

"To have the support of the house, to get the bill through, obviously we're on the way to where we want to be, which is having the opportunity to better protect public safety," Richards said in a statement.

The legislation was brought forward as a response to the 2011 Stanley Cup riots in Vancouver.

Police documented 15,000 criminal acts during the riots, but were able to make very few charges because they couldn’t identify the people involved.

However, not everyone is so quick to support the bill. Some say it could be the beginning of a slippery slope.

"I don't think people understand the implications that it has — when does wearing a toque low on your face become a mask? Are we going to ban people from appearing in a protest because they are wearing a burqa? Are we going to say that on a cold day that people can't wear a mask?" Interim Liberal Leader Bob Rae said in a statement.

Liberal MP Carolyn Bennett said the bill could have unintended consequences by encouraging pre-emptive arrests, which may lead to lawsuits by demonstrators who feel they were unlawfully detained.

Other opposition members say the bill is unnecessary because it merely criminalizes what is already criminal.

It is already illegal to wear a disguise while committing an offense, including rioting. However, unlawful assemblies do not fall under the current law.

The bill is controversial as it makes it difficult to draw a line between a peaceful demonstration and unlawful gathering, Michael Forian, reporter at CJAD Radio, told RT.

“What this law basically does is that it will criminalize people who are in protest if the police of that city deem the protest to be an unlawful assembly,” he argues.

“Let’s look at Montreal for example and any major city in Quebec, where if you are 50 people or more in a peaceful protest, a non-violent protest – that could be deemed an unlawful assembly if you have not presented your itinerary, and the directions of your protest routes to the police force of the municipality on Quebec.”

Police across Canada are urging Ottawa to resurrect a controversial Internet surveillance bill that would allow them to monitor Canadians' digital activities in real-time without a warrant.

­The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police has made a plea to on the federal government to pass Bill C-30, also known as the Protecting Children from Internet Predators Act ahead of a gathering by the provincial and federal justice ministers next week.

The group is concerned that Parliament will be closed down before the legislation is passed.

“We have a fear that it will die on the order paper,” said Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu, who is also the president of the association. “And if it does, then our investigators will be constrained and victims will suffer greater harm because of that,” the Canadian Press reports.

Deputy police chief Warren Lemcke agreed with Chu’s assessment, saying that “right now there are gangsters out there communicating about killing someone and we can't intercept that,” as cited by CBC news.

The legislature, introduced in the Canadian Parliament last February, demands that the country’s telecommunication industry provide law enforcement with the “authority to intercept communications and to require telecommunications service providers to provide subscriber and other information, without unreasonably impairing the privacy of individuals, the provision of telecommunications services to Canadians or the competitiveness of the Canadian telecommunications industry.”

If passed, the law would also give the police the power to make it a crime to use social media as a tool to injure, alarm or harass individuals. It would also grant access to the individual’s private data such as name, address, phone number and email without a warrant.

The law would ask the companies to place tracking bugs in their programs so that police, if needed, could spy on conversations if they got the necessary legal approvals.

Until now, C-30 has remained shelved by Parliament, and has not been debated after receiving mass criticism when it was originally released.

Critics claimed that the authorities would likely use the powers to harass peaceful protestors and activists.

A number of social media protests were organized, one of which circulated personal details from the divorce files of the bill’s sponsor of the bill-Public Safety Minister’s Vic Toews.

People also marched on the streets, demanding checks to the would-be unlimited police powers.

A public opinion poll conducted by Angus Reid after the bill’s introduction concluded that "the idea of surrendering subscriber data and identifiers without a warrant” is rejected by almost two thirds of Canadians.

Thousands have taken to the streets of the Spanish capital, just outside the Parliament building, to protest their government’s latest bid to further cut spending in 2013.

­Cordoned off by police riot vans, the crowd outside the government headquarters in Madrid yelled slogans lambasting further austerity measures and political corruption, demanding the resignations of the deputies of both the ruling conservative Popular Party and the opposition Socialists.

"People in the street feel like [lawmakers] don't respect us," Noelia Urdialesa, a care assistant, told the AFP. "They are making cuts in health and education, affecting the most vulnerable."

Earlier in the day, students also staged an anti-austerity protest against new cuts to education that are expected in the 2013 budget, which will lead to larger class sizes and higher tuition fees.

Approximately $6.5 billion has been cut from education funding in Spain since 2010.

Politicians, meanwhile, are debating a new budget plan that would add an additional €39 billion in savings, as part of the plan to reduce spending by €150 billion between 2012 and 2014 with pay cuts and tax rises.

Speaking at the start of the debate, Finance Minister Cristobal Montoro said the draft budget "aimed to combat the crisis," adding that it was a budget that would make "2013 the last year of recession for Spain."

But people outside do not believe that reaching such targets is even a remote possibility.

“Those deficit targets are impossible to meet. Everybody knows that, so the government is counting on the EU to ease those targets. But the problem is that easing the targets does not mean that the government will ease their austerity policies,” journalist Miguel-Anxo Murado told RT.

This is very difficult, as Spain’s economy continued to shrink in the third quarter, according to central bank estimates Tuesday. This is the fifth quarter in a row that Spain's economic output has shrunk.

In late September during similar protests, 38 people were arrested and 64 injured when officers clashed with protesters demonstrating against austerity cutbacks and tax hikes.

This time, no casualties have been reported.

More protests outside Parliament are planned for Thursday and Saturday.

UK press regulation risks democracy

A Scottish cabinet secretary warns that the statutory regulation of the press as expected to be announced by a government inquiry into the ethics of the British media could damage democracy.

Scottish Secretary for Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth John Swinney said the government interference in the activities of the press could breach the values Britain claims to represent.

“My personal opinion is that I don’t favor statutory regulation of the press. I don’t think it’s a good thing. I don’t think it sits comfortably with a civilized, modern, Western democracy,” Swinney told the Scottish National Party Conference.

His comment comes ahead of a report by Lord Justice Leveson, who is leading a public inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of British press following the News International phone hacking scandal.

Leveson, who was appointed as the chairman of the inquiry by UK Prime Minister David Cameron, said back in November 2011 that his investigations aim to answer whether the press that “provides an essential check on all aspects of public life” need a guardian and if so who should do the job.

The inquiry’s report is to emerge next month and is expected to propose tougher controls on the press.

Swinney has not been the first politician censuring the inquiry amid criticisms, including by former chairman of the Press Complaints Commission Sir Christopher Meyer, that the probe is no more than a “show trial” to justify further government control over the media.

Cameron’s Education Secretary Michael Gove also raised fears in February that the inquiry is having a “chilling” effect on free speech.

“The big picture is that there is a chilling atmosphere towards freedom of expression which emanates from the debate around Leveson,” Gove said.

The accusations of the inquiry being a mock trial especially gained force after revelations that Leveson attended two parties over the past year at the London home of Matthew Freud who is married to daughter of News International’s big boss Rupert Murdoch.

This comes as the British government had earlier used student protests and anti-spending cuts rallies in London and other cities as an excuse to call for tougher controls on social networking websites, sparking outrage among civil rights campaigners.

Spain’s government is drafting a law that bans the photographing and filming of members of the police. The Interior Ministry assures they are not cracking down on freedom of expression, but protecting the lives of law enforcement officers.

­The draft legislation follows waves of protests throughout the country against uncompromising austerity cuts to public healthcare and education.

The new Citizen Safety Law will prohibit “the capture, reproduction and editing of images, sounds or information of members of the security or armed forces in the line of duty,” said the director general of the police, Ignacio Cosido. He added that this new bill seeks to “find a balance between the protection of citizens’ rights and those of security forces.”

The dissemination of images and videos over social networks like Facebook will also be punishable under the legislation.

Despite the fact that the new law will cover all images that could pose a risk to the physical safety officers or impede them from executing their duty, the Interior Ministry maintains it will not encroach on freedom of expression.

“We are trying to avoid images of police being uploaded onto social networks with threats to them and their families,” underlined Cosido.

Violation of freedom of expression?

Spain’s United Police Syndicate said it considers the implementation of the new legislation “very complicated” because it does not establish any guidelines over what kinds of images violate the rights of a police officer. The syndicate warned that the ministry will run into “legal problems” if it does not specify the ins and outs of the law.

However, the director of the police argued that the measures were necessary given the “elevated levels of violence against officers” in the economic downturn that is “undermining the basis of a democratic society.”

The anti-austerity protests that have swept Spain over the past year have been punctuated by reports and footage of police brutality. The footage showed that large numbers of Spanish officers did not wear their identification badges during the protests, although the law requires it.

Spain’s beleaguered economy is in danger of following in the footsteps of Greece.

The government has made sweeping cuts to the public sector, provoking the ire of a Spanish public already disillusioned at rising unemployment that tops 50 per cent among adolescents.

The Spanish government has not yet called on the European Central bank for a bailout, but rising economic woes and an unchecked public deficit may force it to do so in the near future.

Press TV along with other Iranian television and radio stations have been banned from broadcasting through the Hot Bird Satellite transponder. The IRIB multiplex was targeted and one of the frequencies that transmit Press TV through the IRIB Satellite is now off air.

The hotbird satellite system covers Europe and other regions. Viewers who have Hot Bird are unable to watch Press TV on their system. The channel has been taken off air by an order from the European Commission. The decision to take Press TV off the air was also influenced by pro-Israeli anti-Iranian pressure groups.

The US based lobby group United Against a Nuclear Iran was boasting on their website about how they piled pressure on European satellite services to remove the 19 Iranian stations off the air. Their campaigns have stretched from pressuring banks to oil companies to cut off all ties with Iran. They are a part of a bigger network that works towards increasing the sanctions against Iran.

In early 2012 Ofcom, the UK's media regulating body, decided to remove Press TV from the British satellite platform. And now several months later the European satellite provider Eutelsat has ordered the British based company Arqiva to stop transmitting channels from IRIB satellite.

I then contacted Arqiva's Head of Public Relations, Gary Follows, for an interview. He declined by saying they were currently not giving interviews on the subject. He later issued the same statement to IRIB saying:

Massoud Shadjareh of the Islamic Human Rights Commission has also looked into the issue and cannot find a satisfactory reason for banning the Iranian channels. He believes there is a bigger agenda at play.

Press TV have now set up a facebook petition and urges supporters to join their campaign against the censorship. They believe Eutelsat's move was illegal and a blatant violation of freedom of speech.

It's also very good at dusting floors. Every home owner should have one". And as the technology advances at a frightening speed, anyone with a few hundred dollars can buy one over the counter. These hobby drones can fly for miles and provide sharp video feedback to the pilot. "I wouldn't cheat on your wife!", laughs columnist Charles Krauthammer. But jokes aside, there are real fears over the "political, legal and ethical issues that play out with this", argues Singer. In 3 years time an order from the US congress will see tens of thousands of drones legally occupy an already crowded sky, raising numerous questions about basic safety, terrorism and civil liberty. As companies rush to cash in on this new billion dollar industry, experts warn, "we're not ready for this".
