US blocks UNSC support for Syria ceasefire

The United States reportedly blocks adoption of a United Nations Security Council statement supporting a ceasefire agreed between Russia and Turkey in Syria’s northwestern province of Idlib, although the deal has led to direly-needed de-escalation in the province.

Diplomats cited by AFP said the US stonewalled the measure that Russia's UN Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia had asked the other 14 member states to adopt on Friday, with Washington calling it "premature."

The US’s standpoint was echoed by Britain and Germany. "There are a lot of questions about how it will work in practice, who will monitor it," remarked British Ambassador Karen Pierce, while her German counterpart Christoph Heusgen said, "We have to see if this will work."

Russia and Turkey’s presidents, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had announced the truce that took force in Idlib at 00:01 a.m Friday, after three hours of face-to-face talks in Moscow on Thursday.

The deal was clinched amid a pressing need for pacification in Idlib, where Turkish violations had brought about an unwarranted flare-up of already high levels of deadly violence.

The escalation came when Turkish forces that are tasked with manning a number of observation posts in Syria to supposedly contribute to de-escalation efforts, ventured outside the areas assigned to the posts, engaging with the Syrian military.

The province, though, began experiencing “calm” after the truce that allowed the Syrian government to secure two strategic routes running through it, reports by AFP and the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based monitor, showed.

Putin, Assad discuss Syria ceasefire

Meanwhile, Putin told Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in a phone call that the truce would stabilize the situation in Idlib, the Kremlin said.

"Bashar al-Assad rated the outcome of the talks between the leaders of Russia and Turkey highly and expressed his gratitude to Russia's president for supporting the fight against terrorist groups," the Kremlin statement said.

Idlib contains the largest remaining concentrations of militants and Takfiri terrorists in Syria, who have fled there from concerted anti-terror drive by Syria and its allies, Russia and Iran. Russia lends aerial support to the Syrian Army’s operations, while Iran provides it with military advisory assistance.

Contrary to the Russian and Iranian involvement that came after Syria’s relevant requests, the US and its allies maintain an illegal presence in the Arab country under the pretext of confronting Daesh. Syria and its allies that defeated the Takfiri terror group back in 2017 strongly oppose the American-led interference for its complete lack of legitimacy and justification.

Diplomats, meanwhile, told AFP that Moscow had signaled it could oppose endorsement of a recently-signed agreement between the US and the Afghan militant group of Taliban at the Security Council following the US’s opposition to the Syria ceasefire.

The US Military Deliberately Bombed the Syrian Army

By: Stewart Brennan

The US Military bombed a Syrian Army Position today, and in doing so, provided air cover for the Daesh mercenary terrorist army in the area.

Considering that the US Government insists that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad must go, it now appears that the Americans and their coalition are engaged in actions to make that happen.

The US is currently forming a coalition to bomb Syria with some of their European NATO allies, while also supporting their NATO partner Turkey even after their illegal oil trade with the Daesh Terrorists, their bombing raids on Syria and their shooting down of the Russian Military jet over Syrian Airspace.

Despite the obvious crime of shooting down the Russian bomber, the US saw fit to excuse Turkey and warn Russia that if Russia retaliated against Turkey, then NATO would respond and evoke Article 5 of the NATO treaty...and that my friends, would lead to World War III; that's how serious this is.

The recent additions (France, Germany, and the UK), to the American war coalition against Syria, seems to have the US feeling it has a moral right to bomb Syria as they continue to insist that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad must go. The US Military escalation in Syria today proves without a doubt that the American’s are determined to eliminate the legitimate Syrian President and his government by force no matter what anyone thinks and it looks like they will destroy the entire country in doing so…

The US doesn't have to put American troops on the ground because they already employ a terrorist mercenary army in both Syria and Iraq, I say without hesitation that the US government and their NATO allies ARE THE TERRORISTS!

US-led coalition strikes Syrian army compound, several dead & injured

What next?

Now that the American’s are exposed for clearly trying to destroy the Syrian Army, there will be a United Nations Security Council meeting to condemn the US Military action. The US will then deny their part or they will say it was an unfortunate incident, even though they had the coordinates of the Syrian army positions as well as the terrorist positions. Once again, Russia will be the real diplomat and call for the US and its illegal coalition (France, UK, Germany, Turkey, and others) to join the real and legal Russian coalition trying to rid the region of terrorism…to which the US response will be to turn the offer down and insist that the Russians work with the US and their coalition…

Russia has said it will abide by the Law unlike their American counter parts, so nothing will be resolved as the US will continue to thumb their nose at International law by conducting a “NON UN Sanctioned Attack” on an Independent nation…which by international law is a “War Crime”.

The US and its coalition STILL say Assad must go…they don’t have that right, only the Syrian people have that right; and if one really respects the Syrian peoples rights, then one would NOT be bombing their country without the Syrian governments permission, because everything must be coordinated with the ONLY real military force on the ground battling the terrorists..."The Syrian Army" who the US just bombed.

The ONLY legal way forward is for the US and its NATO vassal states to work with Russia, Iran and the Syrian government, to eliminate terrorism in Syria. The same can be said for eliminating terrorism in Iraq as well, where the US & Turkey have also broken international law and invaded that country repeatedly…when is this US Bullshit going to stop?

Anyone who believes that the US, Turkey, France, UK, and Germany (among others) are there fighting terrorism in the name of humanity have intentionally chosen to blind themselves by propaganda bullshit. If the US and its so called coalition were serious about eliminating terrorism then they would have joined the Russian initiative from the very start…even so, with all the so called “accidents” that are now piling up, one would expect a civilized human being to apologize, to admit their mistakes and join with a legitimate group who are really confronting terrorism head on…

Unfortunately, we are dealing with a gang of nations mostly from NATO countries who insist on removing the Syrian government regardless of the cost. They support belligerent terror funding countries like Saudi Arabia without question.

Saudi Arabia threatens Syrian President Assad with military action

The original Video and the News channel of Press TV were victims of Western censorship and removed from YouTube to cover up western War Crimes in Syria. Where possible, I will insert a mirror video of the report.

Both Syria and Iraq have been totally obliterated. They will never be the same again as the War crimes that started all of this back in 2003 in Iraq, has left the entire region in an absolute state of oblivion thanks to the US & UK who will not cease until every community in the Middle East has been destroyed and gutted of its history, and that is not a joke because it’s not far off…

Could it be that they the US & its allies are concerned with their “Interests”? And, what are those interests and who benefits? Have they told you yet? Maybe its “OIL” and their domination of the energy supplies throughout the region. It certainly isn’t freedom and democracy because what they are doing does NOT bring Freedom and Democracy!! Who benefits in the region? The ones bombing Syria should give everyone a crystal clear picture…And who is warring on Syria? The US, UK, France, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Israel, Qatar, and others…I suspect they all get a piece of the action in their violent and malevolent game of Thrones.

Anyone with a moral conscious cannot support the actions of these heinous war crimes, if they do, then they are declaring that they support the very evil they claim to be fighting against. Shame on them, and shame on those who support the destruction of humanity…

At this rate, every nation on earth that does not side with the USA will be branded as the enemy, if they haven’t already been labelled so…

Terrorism all over the World is supported, funded, trained, and armed by the US, UK, France, Germany, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Qatar, and others who’s GDP and economic interests are tied to the weapons manufacturers that are owned by these gang members of the economic mafia…

I’m absolutely disgusted with all of them and if and when the time comes, where I will be told to pick a side, I will not fight for this rabid bunch of criminal scumbags and neither should you if you have a moral compass!

Obama threatens Syrian president with more Terrorist Attacks

UPDATE: 2014, Feb. 16th

Source: Press TV

US President Barack Obama has threatened that he will step up pressure on the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Obama’s threat came after he hosted King Abdullah II of Jordan at the Sunnylands retreat in Palm Springs, California, where the two discussed, among other things, the unrest in Syria.

The US president said on Friday that he and his royal guest had decided they should take steps “to apply more pressure to the Assad regime.”

“We are going to need a political transition in that region,” Obama said in what sounded like a veiled reference to the announced goal of removing President Assad.

"There will be some intermediate steps that we can take to apply more pressure to the Assad regime, and we’re going to be continuing to work with all the parties concerned to try to move forward on a diplomatic solution,” he said, without specifying what those steps might be.

Several reports have shown over the past year that the US has been covertly training insurgents in Jordan to fight against the Syrian government.

Reports have also revealed that the US shipped weapons to Jordan in order to arm the foreign-backed militant groups.

During the meeting with Jordan’s king, Obama also pledged $1 billion in loan guarantees to Jordan and a renewal of a five-year aid package, which is worth $660 million a year and expires in September.

Shortly after the Geneva II talks between representatives of the Syrian government and the foreign-backed opposition ended with no deals on February 1, insurgents said that Washington had increased direct funding to their commanders in Jordan in order to ramp up pressure on Assad’s government before the next round of talks.

“From now until the next round of talks in Geneva, Assad will be under real pressure — he will feel more pressure from opposition forces,” a militant commander cited a US official as saying.

The “next round of talks in Geneva,” to which the US official had referred, broke off without any results on Saturday as both the Syrian opposition and government officials confirmed that they have been unable to make any progress, with each side sticking to its own position.

End arms supply to Syria militants: Iran Envoy

Iranian ambassador to Lebanon has renewed call for an end to foreign arms and financial aid to foreign-sponsored militants fighting against the Syrian government.

“If there is really a political will in the UN and the international community for the settlement of the Syria crisis, the flow of money and arms to terrorists in Syria from outside must be stopped so that there will be a possibility for an end to violence and the start of true negotiations,” Ghazanfar Roknabadi said in a meeting with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly.

The UN official, for his part, underlined the need for addressing issues related to the Syrian refugees, urging that practical measures should be taken to find a political solution to Syria crisis.

Syria has been plagued by deadly crisis since March 2011.

Saudi Arabia has been the main supplier of weapons and funds to foreign-backed militants inside Syria. The United States is also said to have stepped up its financial support for the militants.

This comes as the second round of negotiations between the Syrian government and the foreign-backed opposition in the Swiss city of Geneva hit a deadlock due to sharp differences between the two sides.

UN-Arab League Special Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi said on Saturday that talks to resolve the Syrian crisis broke off without any result and no date has been yet set for another round.

The Syrian delegation says fighting terrorism should be the top priority. But the opposition insists that formation of a transitional government and resignation of President Bashar al-Assad must come first.

McCain urges Syria military intervention

Source: Press TV

Hawkish US Senator John McCain has called on the Obama administration to employ its already-devised plan of military intervention against the Syrian government.

“The only way to achieve success at Geneva is to change the balance of power on the ground,” McCain said in a statement on Saturday, referring to the failure of the so-called Syria peace talks in Geneva.

“There are options far short of an Iraq-style invasion that can, and should, be employed to change the calculation of the Syrian regime, stem the violence, and ultimately achieve a negotiated political solution,” he added.

The second round of negotiations ended on Saturday without any concrete results about the unrest in Syria.

“The second round of Syria peace talks ended today with no progress toward a negotiated political settlement to the conflict and UN Special Envoy Lakhdar Brahimi recognizing that failure is looming,” McCain said.

“After three weeks of talks, we are moving further and further away from a peaceful political solution,” he argued.

The Arizona Republican senator also criticized President Barack Obama for allowing Russia to put pressure on him.

“Russia has recently prevented the passage of a much-needed UN resolution on bringing aid to desperate Syrian civilians,” he said. “Such actions indicate that the Russian government is simply not a partner for peace in Syria and cannot be relied on to help secure a successful outcome.”

During a press conference on Friday, White House press secretary Jay Carney said there is no military solution for the crisis in Syria.

“The crisis in Syria is a crisis. The circumstances on the ground are horrific that is why we have to bring the parties together to try to compel them towards a negotiated political settlement because there isn’t a military solution here,” Carney said.

Russia warns of Western anti Syria move

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov

http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2012/11/05/270498/russia-warns-of-western-antisyria-move/

Russia has warned that Western countries are seeking a UN Security Council resolution that will aggravate the situation in Syria in order to pave the way for regime change in the country.

“If the priority is the change of the regime, then there will be more blood, but if the priority is to save lives, then there is no need for any type of resolutions. We have not yet tried to implement Geneva accords,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Sunday.

He made the remarks at a joint press conference with Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi and UN-Arab League Special Representative for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi in Cairo.

On November 2, the Russian Foreign Ministry released a statement saying the United States was giving “direct orders” to the “Syrian opposition.”

“We heard direct orders (from the United States) about what the Syrian opposition should do to form a ‘government in exile’, and about who should join such a government,” the statement read.

“US representatives are saying that they do not intend to wait for a change in Russia and China’s position. So they are bluntly making clear that they see the Syria conflict being settled exclusively on their terms,” the statement further read.

Syria has been the scene of unrest since March 2011 and many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in the turmoil.

The anti-Syria Western states have been calling for President Bashar al-Assad to step down, but Russia and China oppose the Western drive to oust the Syrian president.

US terror drones kill 35 in Yemen, Pakistan

Thirty-five people have been killed in the latest non-UN-sanctioned US assassination drone strikes in Yemen and Pakistan.

On Friday, US drones fired several missiles targeting areas in Yemen's southeastern province of al-Bayda, killing 20 people, while 15 people were killed in attacks in Pakistan's northwestern tribal areas.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a local security official said that the number of casualties announced in the Jabra area of Yemen’s al-Bayda governorate was based on an initial security report from the targeted area.

The official added that more than two US drones were still striking several areas in three villages outside al-Bayda city.

In Pakistan, at least 15 people were killed and three were injured in the Shaktoi area of South Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan.

Some sources said missiles fired from the US aircraft landed on a vehicle, while others said they targeted a house.

Dozens of people have lost their lives in CIA-operated assassination drone attacks in Pakistan since the beginning of 2012.

Washington claims that its airstrikes target militants crossing the Afghanistan border, but local sources say civilians have been the main victims of the non-UN-sanctioned strikes.

Pakistanis have held many demonstrations to condemn the United States’ violations of their national sovereignty.

'US posts elite commandos near Iran'

The US-based Wired magazine says Washington has stationed a special team of highly trained commandos near Iran's border for possible sabotage operations.

Quoting a US Army officer speaking on behalf of Special Forces, the report by the magazine's columnist, Spender Ackerman, said a team of “highly trained personnel that excel in uncertain environments” are operating near Iran.

According to Ackerman, the team called Joint Special Operations Task Force-Gulf Coordinating Council (JSOTF-GCC) is now on the ground to instruct local troops in special operations. This is the first time the US has acknowledged the existence of the team, which apparently did not exist before the middle of 2009.

“The primary, day-to-day mission of the team…is to mentor military units belonging to the US oil-rich Arab allies…[which] consider Iran to be their primary foreign threat,” he added.

Ackerman also quoted Maj. Rob Bockholt, a spokesman for special-operations forces in the Mideast, as saying that the task force provides “highly trained personnel that excel in uncertain environments,” and “seeks to confront irregular threats.”

The report said the unit began its existence in mid-2009 - around the time that Iran rejected President Barack Obama's offer of diplomatic dialogue.

“Whatever the task force does about Iran - or might do in the future - is a sensitive subject with the military,” it added.

“It would be inappropriate to discuss operational plans regarding any particular nation,” Bockholt said when asked about a possible link between the unit and terrorist operations in Iran.

Ackerman quoted Col. Tim Nye, the chief spokesman for the US Special Operations Command, as saying that the task force is responsible “for coordinating all SOF [Special Operations Forces] engagements and training with [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council nations.”

“The special operations forces of those nations have shown a notable improvement over the past year. Qatari commandos quietly traveled to Libya ahead of Muammar Gaddafi's downfall to prepare Libyan rebels for the successful capture of Tripoli. The United Arab Emirates, another close US ally, has also made its elite forces a priority, even hiring [the American security affairs company] Blackwater's founder to bolster their training,” he added.

According to Ackerman, US military officials have thus far refused to identify missions of the task force, its leadership or its headquarters, citing the safety of the personnel involved and the success of those missions.

He noted that even if JSOTF-GCC is primarily a training team, it represents another military option for the US in the region at a time of escalating rhetoric with Iran.

“The Iranians are threatening to close off the Strait of Hormuz, the sea lane through which a fifth of the world's oil travels, as two US aircraft carrier battle groups float nearby. And when the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff says the US could reopen the waterway by force, there might be an elite commando team nearby to help do it,” Ackerman concluded.

Anger in Pakistan Over Obama Peace Prize

Source: PressTV

Critics in Pakistan and Afghanistan have questioned the wisdom of giving a Noble Peace Prize to US President Barack Obama who is blamed for the recent surge in violence there.

Independently conducted polls show that there was widespread anger and resentment following the prize giving ceremony in troubled parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan, where many blame Washington for instability in the region.

Obama formally received his prize on the same day when hundreds of Afghans took to the streets of the capital Kabul to protest a Monday US-led airstrike which killed a number of civilians in the war-ravaged country.

"The Nobel Prize is for those who have made achievements, but Obama is a killer,"AFP quoted a Pakistani engineer living in the shadow of bomb attacks in Pakistan's city of Peshawar as saying.

"He is the president of a country which has a history of Bloodshed and rises to a quarrel. How was he selected for this prize?" said a Pakistani intellectual.

The anger came after Obama ordered 33,000 additional troops into the war zone in Afghanistan, while there is deep suspicion of American motives in neighboring Pakistan.

"Everybody knows the presence of the American army in this region is the root cause of the problems. People are dying in Afghanistan, Pakistan and in Iraq because of Obama's policies," another intellectual said.

Pakistani Premier Yousuf Raza Gilani said in late November that Washington's decision to send thousands of extra troops to Afghanistan may destabilize his country.

Gilani, in an Islamabad interview with DPA, said in that an increase in US troops in Afghanistan is likely to lead to a spill over of militants inside Pakistan.

Hundreds of militants fled into the country after the US-led invasion of Afghanistan began eight years ago.

Moreover, US drone strikes have enraged locals who say the attacks kill civilians and violate the nation's sovereignty.

The purported aim of the American air strikes is to 'surgically' target militants. But Pakistani media outlets report the raids generally kill civilians.

Use of drones has increased since Obama became president. The Nobel Peace Laureate has repeatedly vowed to expand the controversial strikes that have raised anti-US sentiments across Pakistan.

This is while a New York Times report in December revealed that the administration of President Barack Obama has also authorized an expansion of drone attacks on Pakistan's troubled tribal regions.

Pakistani officials later opposed the expansion of drone attacks in the country's tribal areas, as well as strikes on Baluchistan, where the US claims Taliban leaders are hiding.

The unpopular strikes were initiated under the 'administration' of George W. Bush in 2006.
