Managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Mousa Souri says the biggest phase of South Pars gas condensate field will come on stream in October 2012.
Speaking to reports in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Thursday, Souri said the 12th phase of South Pars gas field -- the biggest gas reservoir in the world -- with an output of 84 million cubic meters of sour gas on a daily basis will be launched in late 2012, IRNA reported.
He added that 38 percent of phase 12 of South Pars gas filed has been completed and onshore and offshore gas refining installations of the phase are due to become operational next year.
Meanwhile, the tenth phase of South Pars gas condensate field, with a daily output capacity of 17 million cubic meters, is expected to join the national grid on Friday.
The linkage of the field's phase 10 to the country's national grid comes following the implementation of its development by Iranian technicians.
Although the gas refinery portion of the tenth phase had earlier been launched, unfinished well drilling and lack of state-of-the-art wellhead fittings prevented the entire project to become fully utilized.
