A Real Solution to Reverse Europe's Economic Collapse

By: Stewart Brennan
World United News

The European Union teeters on the brink of total collapse, because the US stubbornly insists that Europe fall inline with American economic and militaristic foreign policy…

Joe Biden: US Insisting Europe Impose Sanctions on Russia

Europe is Energy Dependent

The Americans are directly responsible for Europe’s energy supply problems as are the Europeans themselves for joining American destabilization plans in Libya, Syria, Ukraine and then Russia via an unsuccessful sanctions war.

The steady supply of oil and gas to Europe was disrupted by the EU’s own stupidity which carries the long term prospects of saddling their energy poor Nations with economic collapse by continuing their obedience to US geopolitical and economic directives…as most people already know, access to cheap energy is directly proportional to the health of an economy, so desperation is continuing to intensify as time ticks on without resolution to their problem.

The European economy is hurting for a number of reasons including gross financial corruption, but the forced sanctions on Russia and the prospect of an unstable gas supply that runs through the Ukraine, is taking a heavy toll and driving economic powerhouses like Germany to irreparable financial ruin. Russia understands this, which is why Russia is doing everything in its power to build oil and gas pipelines to save Europe via new pipeline routes bypassing Ukraine through the Baltic Sea and Black Sea.

The Russian moves have angered the Americans, who do not want Europe to build stronger economic ties with Russia, in fact it would prefer that the EU does not deal economically with Russia at all. Why? Because Russia is an independent nation that is opposed to US economic control over their country, and Russia is a big part of the emerging economic bloc with China, Iran, India, and to a smaller extent South America.

The Loss of National Independence

The Independence of the individual European states was crushed by the birth of the Euro currency and later by legislation through the European Parliament. Not only did the Euro currency seize control of all the nations that bought into it, but it removed their economic independence and put it in the hands of an elitist few private bankers.

The US controls global economics, including the European Union through their Global Reserve Petro Dollar, the IMF, World Bank, rigged Stock Markets, and of course their military.

US economic and military policies have delivered nothing but strife to vast regions of Europe, so, how much longer will the people of Europe allow the European Parliament and its US master to dictate their future?

The results have brought the EU an unprecedented economic depression, war just outside their borders, millions of homeless people and refugees, with a dismal future staring straight at them.

EU Future?

Solutions

Don’t you think it’s time for all this insanity to stop? Here’s a short list of what needs to be done to resolve all the problems affecting Europe:

  1. Drop the US Imposed Sanctions on Russia.
  2. Join the Russia / China economic Eurasian Deal.
  3. Tell the US Military to close their bases in your countries and go back to the USA.
  4. Return to National Currencies with a public central bank in each country so that you will have your own independence.
  5. Leave the EURO, IMF and World Bank behind.
  6. End your NATO affiliation and create a European military cooperative that does not include nations outside of Europe.
  7. Stop supporting Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Israel unconditionally.
If the European countries do not begin to change course, all of Europe will cease to exist economically, politically, culturally, and socially in the future…and if Europe continues to support the belligerent proxies of US hegemony, all of Europe will be dragged into a third World War. Europe will not survive any of these real threats, therefore the people need to take action now. The choice at the moment, is yours, and I’m speaking directly to the citizens of all the European nations…if your political leaders remain deaf dumb and blind, then it will be up to you to rise up and make change…if you don't rise up and speak out now, your leaders will continue down the road to total collapse…

Energy Dictatorship

The US Government, represented by Joe Biden, has chosen whom Europe will get its oil and gas from instead of letting Europeans choose for themselves…they chose Turkey to be a vehicle of that energy. However, in 2015, after accepting Syria’s invitation to help the Syrian people against a four year invasion by foreign terrorists attacking their country, Vladimir Putin exposed Turkey and its role in illegal oil smuggling with the ISIS terrorists…

Since these terrorist oil pipelines running through Turkey have been disrupted, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next thing the American’s do, will be to “Insist” that the Europeans continue their war on Libya, who of course, have lots of Oil and Gas…

If the people of Germany and or France take the initiative for real change, then the rest of Europe will follow…the choice is up to you. Don't you want a future?

BRICS vs OECD or Corporations vs The People?

Photo: BRICS leaders gather at the “2013 BRICS Summit” in Durban South Africa

“The BRICS just became impossible to ignore. At the close of the Fifth annual BRICS Summit in Durban, South Africa last week, there was little question that this group of five fast-growing economies was underwriting an overhaul of the global economic and political order.” – The BRICS Post

This following Post is In Reply to:
BRICS Summit draws clear red lines on Syria & Iran

"BRICS Summit draws clear red lines..." was a very interesting post but it leaves out some extremely important details to the reader such as what this New World Banking Order is and what it really means. What are they really talking about?

In my opinion, what I see emerging with the BRICS is a duplicate Rothschild banking system with the exact same economic model that is based on exponential growth…and while we the people are reeling from this growth model at home, the leading Western nations are plugging the worlds largest economy (China) into the energy they need to continue the destruction of the Western economies. Two clear examples of this are in Iraq and most recently, Canada’s Tar Sands…in fact the approved sale of NEXEN came from Washington and London before it could pass in the Canadian Parliament…not that Canada had any say anyways.

Photo: Canadian PM Stephen Harper Toasting FIPPA Deal with China’s Premier Wen Jiabao

Video: China Oil Firm Cuts Deal in Iraq

However the Harper government then went out of its way to give China free access without prosecution for damages they may inflict on our country with FIPPA. Then Harper removed the protection on 99.999% of all the lakes and rivers with Bill C-45 so that corporations like the ones from China could do what they want, anyway they want, without fear of prosecution…and to keep the crimes and pollution from being exposed they muzzled the scientists and declared environmental activists terrorists…

BRICS stand on Syria:

As for Syria…Russia is under the Israeli influence, and Israel desires the destruction of Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and Palestine. So where will this go? Syria has been economically destroyed already. As for China's position on Syria, all I see is inaction and empty words as was the case in Libya. Who stopped the western OECD nations from destroying Libya or Syria? No one!

Down the Road

What I see coming is an emerging New World Order once the wars are over. It comes via a single currency that will enslave the entire world populations to the private banks and their system of exponential growth.

The status quo, of the OECD & BRICS economic model does not work in the favour of the people. It works in the favour of the wealthy few that control the currency…nothing will change with the BRICS system but I can see that the BRICS will grow simply because no one likes the war like behavior of the Western Nations, and as a result of a crashing OECD economic system, every bankrupt nation will turn to the BRICS and be assimilated into the New World Order emerging from the BRICS new deal.

The BRICS economic model is exactly the same as the OECD model, the only difference is the name of the business plan…the real reason the west is going down is because the banks want control of every country under their single global currency, and to do this they must destroy the one that is currently in place…

If we are to see a change in this world of ours we must change our priorities and not allow a corporate model to run the planet. The corporate structure is one of total dictatorship as everyone must see by now as multi-national mega conglomerates gobble up everything in sight. Their control of the Media and government are clearly obvious especially when they become too big to fail, by having legislation passed in their favour, or are supported without investigation by the mainstream media. These multi-national conglomerates are driven by their largest shareholders with a growth model that is exponential and ruthless.

When you have the same share holders controlling the operations of multiple industries with decision making that is best described as, cold, unempathic, and without common sense or moral regard for society, then you have an Armageddon monster out of control and in process of destroying the planet.

Photo: Standard Oil Cartoon

Lead by Example:

The only solution that the people have left to them, if they want to survive, is to stop this “thing” by ending the economic model that feeds it before it completely destroys the planet and everything on it.

I try not to be driven by greed and instead am driven by my empathy for all life and for the future generations that will inherit the earth after I’m gone. What kind of world will we leave future generations with? In reality, our overall needs are meagre compared to what the current economic model requires to keep itself going. Where will we be in 100 years from now if this economic model is allowed to continue?

I Don’t want to leave future generations with this economic monster in place because it will destroy the planet and all life on it. Let’s be the change together and end this madness. The transition will begin when the OECD economies fall. The transition will be in your hands, either we begin the change by removing the private banks, corporate influence, and its political structure, or we succumb to our greed and wipe out the planet…it’s up to all of us...think very hard on this and discuss it with your neighbours, friends, and family…but do it soon, because time has run out.

Canada Under Siege – Part 2 - The Economy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2K3x-Ci8O8

Watching the World descend into economic tyranny due to the IMF and Private for Profit only Banks, really angers the hell out of me, but being Canadian, it especially angers me for what is going on here in Canada…because our government is a party to the theft taking place right here…and that is regardless of what brand of politic sits in governance of our nation.

I was brought up believing that the Banking system in Canada was sound and far superior than the rest of the World simply because we had our own National Bank to issue our own money...and from 1935 to 1974 that was certainly true. But it has not been true since.

Born in Montreal Quebec, Canada in 1960, I’ve seen a lot of things happen to this great country of ours over the years, but I was extremely puzzled why, despite the abundance of our natural resources and government imposed high taxation that we had no money to function or healthy economy. One day I decided to find out why.

What I discovered was that there was a massive theft taking place right under our noses by the IMF and all the other private banks that secretly had embedded themselves into the fabric of our Canadian economy & community…What makes the massive banking crimes so maddening is that I also discovered that all the past and present, Federal & Provincial governments in Canada have had full knowledge of the theft and have been a party to it.

This theft has been going on since 1974 through Federal Conservative, & Liberal governments, and through the Provincial governments of the Conservative, Liberal, NDP, and Parti Quebecois parties. They ALL knew what was going on, and by their knowledge of these banking crimes, they have all committed treason against the people of  this nation for doing nothing about it. Maybe the Chamber of Commerce has something to do with it…since all political parties feast there.

By giving the power to create money to the IMF & its ring of Private Banks, and also by giving our natural resources to foreign business cartels, The Federal & Provincial governments have sold out the Canadian people!…est les Quebec libre aussi. We’re not so libre as we might like so we are all in this mess together.

The debt we owe today, with the National and Provincial debt combined, comes to around 1 Trillion dollars. The interest payment on 1 Trillion dollars if it was at 4% is 40 billion dollars. That works out to about 110 million dollars every day just to pay the interest on a loan that should never have been made in the first place!

The Bank of Canada:

The Bank of Canada was created in 1935 to restart the Canadian economy and regain the peoples trust through a Canadian centralized banking system. The issuance of our own currency, by our own National Bank came without interest or compound interest added, thus allowing Canada to prosper and not go into debt despite the huge work projects and social programs that were created to elevate society back from the trash heap.

Huge government programs were created to put people back to work and thus created some of the most important National Corporations between those thriving years of 1935 to 1974. These corporations were owned by Canadians under a banking system that used an interest free currency…everything belonged to us during that time, including the right to make our own budget.

Large-scale social programs such as Medicare, and social benefits for families…old age pensions all emerged out of this economic model…and it was a model that worked for everyone while it was in place.

The Personal Income Tax collected from individuals became the government’s biggest source of income to keep our own sovereign system in place. In essence, We worked and invested in our country at the same time. The nation prospered and provided us with a higher standard of living while not going into to debt.

All was well and fine until 1974 when the Government of Canada gave the IMF and private banks the power to create the Canadian dollar and to charge us compound interest on loaning us our own money. The result of this giveaway is that we no longer have control of our currency or our governing budget. It belongs to private banks and their centralized private I.M.F.

Since 1974, Federal and Provincial government budgets are borrowed from Private Banks with Compound interest attached. That means we lose large amounts of our wealth and hard earned money to pay back the compound interest that came with the loans…and since the money has to come from somewhere, Canadians became tax targets while at the same time we lose our social programs by government spending cuts directed and ordered by the IMF through banking blackmail. The international economic system is completely rigged…in other words, if you don’t do what the IMF tells you, your bond rating will be lowered and the interest on the loans will be increased…

Compound interest, by practice, steals all the money slated to maintain our infrastructure and social programs…as the interest on the loan builds, the debt increases, which then gives the governments the ok to increase our taxes, or borrow more money from the private banks. The whole charade sends the economy into perpetual inflation mode. This cycle has drastically lowered our standard of living since 1974 and All past & present governments are responsible and should be questioned on their knowledge of the theft taking place, or their incompetence of what was taking place….a thorough PUBLIC investigation into this is required at the very LEAST!

Shortly after the IMF took control of our monetary system, our National Corporations such as the Canadian National Railway, Air Canada, and Petro Canada, were sold by the Canadian government at the behest of those that control and loan us our money. Have a look into the Chamber of Commerce…there you’ll see where government business decisions come from. The Chamber of Commerce is a Private Club made up of Banks and Big Business Owners. Needless to say, National Corporations were sold to international private interests, And now they want to sell off programs by privatizing things like health care.

It is very important to note, that what disappeared with National Corporations such as Petro Canada, was the control of our natural resources and the profits they would have brought directly into the country’s coffers if we were not enslaved to the IMF and their scheme of compound debt. Instead, all profits from our natural resources go into the private pockets of the Corporate Share Holders while the rest of us pay increased taxes and allow them to steal it.

Corruption:

International Corporations pay rental fees to the Provincial & Federal Governments on the Canadian land they are raping…of course anyone in government that is pushing for corporate interests is on a committee that receives special compensation. To me this is nothing short of bribery…this type of behavior is shady, dishonest, and amounts to high treason against the people of Canada and should be publicly investigated with prison sentences for those found guilty. In light of these accusations I am making here, I find that the government is nothing more than a crime syndicate for big business, and it is time for these criminals to GO!

Now that the pillars of economic stability have been removed, Canadians find themselves at the mercy of the International banks that are TELLING us what to keep, what to sell and where to cut the budget. Our government not only sold us out, they refuse to change the economic climate for the betterment of its people…that means they do not work for the people of Canada but the private owners of the International Banks!

The next Canadian Federal election is in 2015 so we have time to organize the people of this country to take back our nation. To know which politician to vote for, make sure they are decidedly for removing the Private banks from issuing our money and to nationalize ALL our resources. It’s time to take our country back and this is the way to do it.

Division is the Tool of Choice by the Ruling Class in Quebec and Canada

Written By: Stewart Brennan

Governing policy has never really changed much in Quebec or Canada, regardless of perception of who makes the laws or controls the wealth.

The fact is, that the people from all the provinces and territories within Canada are controlled by an elitist group that hold power at every level of government, where legislation is used to divide and conquer via cultural and language divisions.

Keeping our communities at each others throats is the tactic used by those that control the wealth, especially when attention begins to focus on what they are really doing.

Consider that every law that is passed, by any level of government, works in favour of someone or some company that is either bent on aquiring or selling something that is not theirs or is to protect them from liability from past legislation that gave them control to buy or sell something that was not theirs.

Division has worked well for the Elite Across Canada.

Let us remember that it isn’t the little people that rule but those that control the money that rule. The people of Canada have been enslaved to serve a system put in place by the wealthy of this and other nations. The “Oligarchy” controls all aspects within the system and has cornered every market while quelling the resistance against them.

What we are told to do is go to our subservient jobs, pay taxes, and follow every law imposed on us regardless of its tone. To resist is to be imprisoned or threatened by the security system they have put in place. Ideally, the Police force is used for their own protection and not the protection of society as the lessons from the G20 meetings in Toronto, or the Student protests in Montreal clearly illustrated.

Video: Peaceful Protesters are attacked after singing Canadian National Anthem on Queen Street Toronto, Ontario, Canada (2010)

Video: Violence erupts as Riot police attack student protest in Montreal, Quebec, Canada (2012)

Put in our place.

When the population protests government decisions, there is complete silence by the mainstream media on the real issues surrounding the protests and a deafness towards the peoples complaints by an out of touch Parliament. They have our best interests at hand or so they tell us.

We are then told that to change the decisions they have made, we have the democratic right to make change through the political process and choose one of the parties the Oligarchy bankrolls and parades in front of us…does anyone really think there is a mainstream political party that has not been bought and paid for?

The power structure that governs us politically, socially, and economically in Canada are decidedly parasitic against everyone and are the root causes of all the economic hardships we endure and will continue to endure if something is not done. The establishment controls the wealth and power by their ownership of all the banks, land and major corporations. We are just pawns to be used in a Banking Kingdom and Fife.

One of the illusions given by those in control is that our local, Provincial, and Federal tax dollars go into taking care of the community…however, we are never allowed to know how much they collect, or where the money is spent. To make things worse, corrupt government allowed our Central Bank to give away the power to issue money.

The Bank of Canada gave away the issuance of the Canadian Dollar to privately owned banks who then started to “Loan us our own money”, PLUS, we had to pay our own money back to them with interest! This little known fact happened in 1974 under the watch, of then, Canadian Prime Minister, “Pierre Elliot Trudeau”. However, this practice of thievery was known by all other political parties and allowed to continue by every Governing Provincial and Federal Governments since.

Video: Canada Issued Debt-Free Money From 1935-1974

The “National Debt” and thus “Provincial Debt” is controlled by a foreign group of elitest bankers who have taken control of all our wealth by charging us compound interest on money that was never intended for them to issue. Where before, when the Bank of Canada issued the money, we didn’t have to pay interest back because it was our own money being created by our own bank, and therefore controlled only by Canadians.

The Politicians will not return us to debt free money or even address it because they are owned by the corporate structures that control the very same avenues of theft. It does not matter which political party is in power because all parties are controlled by corporate and banking interests that run the entire power structure. Politicians will evade the banking theft question whenever pressed.

The compound interest that has taken hold of our tax dollars is the sole reason that we have soaring inflation, tax increases across the board, a loss in purchasing power, a loss of social services, increased unemployment, a rapid increase in poverty, homelessness, and rise in crime. The monetary system and those that control what has been in place since 1974 is directly responsible for our hardships.

Today in Canada we face a growing foreign takeover of all our infrastructure, wealth and resources by greedy interests. An outrageous example of this is the take over bid by Chinese "State Owned" CNOOC of the Canadian privately owned corporation NEXEN. (See video below.)

Video: China’s CNOOC has agreed to buy Canada’s NEXEN for 15.1 Billion Dollars

When there is no more money available to pay back debt, you lose everything of value that you have as a Nation.

Today in Quebec and Canada all our tax money is going to pay off the compound interest on the principal of a debt that is controlled by private foreign elitist bankers instead of going into the community. This fact is the sole reason why our country’s mineral and resources are being sold down the river to outside groups…here in Quebec the land and everything on it belongs to outside interests, it’s not ours…and that goes for those in Alberta, Ontario and every other Province and or territory.

The more indebted to the international banking cartel we become, the more intertwined we become in the grotesque international hatreds we see unfolding across the World. Our government has told us they have taken sides against people in other nations whom they have no business or right to interfere with. Certainly NOT in my name!!!

My plea to the Canadian people regardless of descent, origin, or status be it English, French, Jew, Muslim, black, white, purple or orange, it’s time to stand together as a unified community, as a nation, and stop the division being inflicted upon us by those that rule!

Common sense, respect, and tolerance to culture and language are expressions of unity and the tools that will free our society from this oppression we face. Standing together is our strength in battling all forms of division that the ruling elite constantly unleash upon our communities. We should be united in telling our government that “If you oppress one part of the community, you oppress all of it, and we do not support you!” We should not tolerate ANY attempts of division what so ever.

This is not a Liberal, Conservative, Separatist, or New Democratic position. It is a position of being a humanist, of having empathy for others, of mutual respect, and being what we hold deer in our hearts as "being Canadian"…To be free…really free.

It’s time to stand up and take back the control of our monetary system from the parasitic private bankers! It’s time to FORCE the government and mainstream media to back down! It’s time to change the system to one that is controlled by the people and not political representatives that cater to the wishes of the corporate few.

How Do We Make Change

How do we do it? We do it by creating direct democracy and establishing criteria that allows people to run for office based on experience in the fields that they hold. We do it by removing the private banks from control of our national currency. We do it by becoming the media, by being open to change, by becoming an economic block, and by our passion for equal rights, respect for one another and belief in the right to exist. We do it together!

No person or culture should be singled out and subject to a muzzle by fear mongering groups or individuals that base their paranoia in propaganda spread by an elitist group and their media, nor should we respect laws that force us all to conform to their racism in all its shapes and forms. No foreign individual, group, or nation should come first over the people of Canada!

Financial Turbulence: New Downturn in the Global Economy

By: Nick Beams
Source: Global Research

There are increasing signs that the global economy is about to enter a new period of financial turbulence, coupled with deepening recession in a growing number of countries.

In the immediate aftermath of the global economic breakdown that began in 2008, set off by the collapse of the US investment bank Lehman Brothers, governments around the world took on increased debt as they made available trillions of dollars to prevent a complete collapse of the financial system. Meetings of the Group of 20 were dominated by pledges there would be no return to the conditions of the 1930s and assurances that the lessons of history had been learned.

The writings of John Maynard Keynes, the British economist of the 1930s who advocated increased government spending to counter depressions, were suddenly back in vogue. But a sharp turn came in June 2010, when a meeting of the G20 initiated a turn to austerity, emphasising the necessity to impose “fiscal consolidation.” The essence of this program was to claw back the money given to the banks through massive cutbacks to government spending, especially on social services.

However, this program brought a contraction in economic growth leading to decreased profit opportunities for major corporations. Faced with this situation, the US Federal Reserve initiated a policy of “quantitative easing”—the provision of unlimited supplies of money to banks and financial institutions. Central banks around the world cut interest rates to record lows and followed that up with their own versions of quantitative easing (QE). Under conditions of a stagnant real economy, these measures were aimed at boosting the value of financial assets, thereby providing a new avenue for finance houses to realise speculative profits.

While the QE program and its equivalents have been touted as a means of preventing a slide into global recession—US Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke claimed the recently enacted QE3 program was motivated by continuing high unemployment—they have done virtually nothing to boost the real economy. Their only significant impact has been to increase profits through financial manipulation, with the ultra-cheap money provided by the central banks.

But now there are signs that a new stage in the global breakdown is underway, marked by growing recessionary trends, as the impact of the central bankers’ program wanes.

Share prices in the US, which had been lifted by the QE program, have started to fall as companies report a downturn in sales and profits amid announcements of further job cuts. This week American companies pointed to weakening global demand and the fears generated by the continuing financial crisis in Europe.

Dow Chemical announced it would axe 2,400 jobs, 5 percent of its global workforce. It also said it would shut 20 plants and cut capital spending by $500 million, citing a “slow-growth environment in the near term.” DuPont, the largest US chemical group, announced 1,500 layoffs and a loss for the third quarter. It pointed to a sharp drop in sales to the Asia-Pacific region, where volumes were down 10 percent compared to a year ago, dealing a blow to claims that so-called “emerging markets” would provide an alternative source of global demand.

Overall, US corporate profits and earnings are expected to fall for the first time since 2009. The latest data on the US economy show that gross domestic product (GDP) grew at an annual rate of only 2 percent in the third quarter, well below that required to maintain employment levels. Were it not for the effect of an increase in defence spending, the figure would have been significantly under market expectations.

The most significant feature of the US GDP data was investment spending. Its continuing decline reduced the overall growth figure by 0.1 percentage points for the quarter, while imports and exports both fell, taking off 0.2 percentage points.

While the central bankers will continue to pump money into financial markets, these measures will do nothing to turn the situation around. This week, in a major speech, the governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn King, noted that every increase in the money supply had a declining impact on the real economy.

His warnings are confirmed by historical trends. Writing in the Financial Times, financial analyst Satyajit Das pointed out that between 2001 and 2008, borrowing against the rising value of houses contributed about half the growth in the US. “But ever increasing borrowings are needed to sustain growth. By 2008, $4 to $5 of debt was required to create $1 of US growth, up from $1 to $2 in the 1950s. China now needs $6 to $8 of credit to generate $1 of growth, an increase from around $1 to $2 15-20 years ago.”

At the meetings of the G20 in 2009, government leaders insisted there would be no return to the protectionist measures of the 1930s which had such a devastating impact on world trade. But the QE program is producing a twenty-first century version of the beggar-thy-neighbour policies of the Great Depression. The flood of money from the US Federal Reserve has pushed down the value of the US dollar, hitting the export markets of its competitors and leading to the development of “currency wars” as they try to maintain their position.

Furthermore, the boosting of financial assets under conditions of slowing economic growth threatens to replicate the conditions that sparked the 2008 collapse on an even broader scale. This is because, unlike the situation four years ago, the central banks themselves are now heavily involved in financial markets and stand to lose massive amounts in a market collapse.

The central bankers and capitalist politicians claim that while their actions may not have promoted growth, they have at least averted a return to the conditions of the 1930s. These claims are belied by the conditions in Spain and Greece, where unemployment is already at 1930s levels.

Moreover, when viewed from an historical perspective, their self-congratulations are somewhat premature. The Great Depression came after a decade of financial and economic turbulence set off by the breakdown of global capitalism that began with the outbreak of World War I in 1914.

This time around, the capitalist breakdown began with a financial crisis that has now set in motion a deepening contraction in world economy.

Like their counterparts in an earlier period, the ruling elites have no response to the historic crisis of the profit system other than a social counterrevolution against the working class, militarism, and the imposition of dictatorial forms of rule.

Far from ending, the global economic crisis is only just beginning. The working class must respond by developing its own independent program based on an intransigent political struggle for the overthrow of the bankrupt capitalist profit system and the bringing of the banks and major corporations under public ownership in order to establish a planned world socialist economy.

Thousands march in Madrid against government austerity measures

A massive police escort accompanied tens of thousands of Spaniards marching on the country’s parliament in Madrid as part of anti-austerity protests.

The 2.3-kilometers march organized by the "Surround parliament" protest group was closely guarded by law enforcement with dog teams, vans with reinforced windows, officers in full riot gear as well as mounted police.

At the Parliament, the crowd was greeted by an even larger police presence and pushed them back behind a chain of metal rail barricades.

Demonstrators were protesting against the latest measures introduced by Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's government as tens of thousands of jobs were lost in the third quarter with a bank bailout in sight.

“And now they are going to give banks a bailout, rescue them as if they were princesses,” Alan Pipo told the AP. “They should be put out on the streets, just like all those families who are being evicted from their homes because they are unable to keep up with mortgage payments! "

Demonstrators held a minute’s silence with their backs turned on parliament to show their condemnation of the government’s policies, that’s as a quarter of Spaniards are now unemployed.

The crowd also moved in front of Bankia Bank, where a group of protesters have been camping out since Monday, in an effort to pressure the bank to halt evictions that have so far affected 400,000 families in Spain.

Earlier on Saturday, nearly 3,000 off-duty police officers had also taken to the streets to voice their anger over austerity measures and the withdrawal of their Christmas bonuses.

Overall the Spanish economy has been struggling for years and now faces a staggering unemployment rate among the young of 52.34 per cent according to country’s National Statistical Institute.

In an effort to rebound the economic growth PM Rajoy has hiked taxes, cut spending and introduced harsh labor reforms in an effort to persuade investors that his government can manage Spain's financial trouble without a full bailout.

But some researchers believe that instead of cutting spending, it might be wise to increase it.

“The alternative is actually not to cut spending, but to invest in the economy, to invest in growth to make sure that there’re jobs. And the only way to ultimately get out of this debt, is to grow out of debt and not to cut your way of debt,” Jerome Roos, a researcher on the EU debt crisis at the European University Institute in Florence, told RT.

Spain’s economic output has shrunk for five quarters in a row and the country’s banking sector has been given a €100 billion loan by the 17 Eurozone states.

Violent clashes erupt as Italy protests austerity

Violent clashes erupted between police and protesters in the northern Italian town of Riva del Garda as tens of thousands took to the streets of Italy in a nationwide anti-austerity demonstration dubbed ‘No Monti Day.’

Police used tear gas and batons to disperse the crowd of angry protesters who fought back with clubs and banners on the streets of Riva del Garda.

Reports say the country’s Prime Minister Mario Monti, who is seen by many as a root cause of the Italian people’s suffering, was attending a meeting in Riva del Garda when the clashes began.

The demonstration in Riva del Garda was just one out of many taking place in Italy on Saturday.

In Rome police expected some 30,000 to take to the streets, but activists estimate that up to 100,000 showed up.

Protesters marched through the city to demand more jobs, investment in schools and universities, more money for healthcare and the end of the austerity policy brokered by Monti and his technocratic cabinet.

Monti, who replaced Silvio Berlusconi last November, is accused of introducing tough austerity measures that have hit ordinary Italians hardest asthe country’s economy continues to falter.

The protests in Italy come a year after ‘Occupy Rome’ turned extremely violent as scores of masked protesters attacked police with rocks, clubs and hummers.

The rioters torched cars, smashed windows, looted shops and even set the building housing Italy’s Defense Ministry on fire.

Official data show that Spanish unemployment rate has exceeded 25 percent in the third quarter of 2012 as the country continues to grapple with economic woes.

New figures released by Spain’s National Statistics Institute on Friday showed that the country’s unemployment rate climbed to 25.02 percent in the third quarter, up from the previous 24.63 percent.

The institute also pointed out that a total of 5.78 million people were out of work in the July-September quarter, up 85,000 from the previous three months, while the number of Spanish households in which every member is unemployed rose to 1.74 million.

The release of the recent figures follows Spain’s labour unions call for a general strike for November 14.

With its high unemployment rate, Spain is under pressure to get its public finances back on track amid concerns in the markets over the state of the country’s banks and the wider economy.

The Spanish government has also been sharply criticized over the austerity measures that are hitting the middle and working classes the hardest.

Public protests have grown in the country over speculation that the government will seek a Greek-style European bailout to keep its borrowing costs in check.

Meanwhile, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s proposed 2013 draft budget is expected to slash the overall spending by 40 billion euros ($51.7 billion), freeze the salaries of public workers, and reduce spending for unemployment benefits.

Battered by the global financial downturn, Spain’s economy collapsed into recession in the second half of 2008, taking with it millions of jobs.

French banks get blow from S&P, as Eurozone crisis weighs

S&P downgraded three French banks, including the 3rd biggest lender in the world BNP Paribas, saying the outlook for another 10 lenders was negative. The agency said European turmoil was increasingly pressing, with economic data backing the gloom.

Banque Solfea and Cofidis were the other 2 French lenders that came into the S&P firing line. The agency cut the outlook on another 10 banks including such market giants as Societe Generale, and Credit Agricole to negative from stable.

In its decision, S&P lowered its long-term rating on BNP Paribas to “A+” from “AA-", while cuttingsmaller players Banque Solfea to “A-” from “A” and Cofidis to “BBB+” from “A-". The forecast on both short – and long – term ratings was negative.

“…the constraints of a relatively high public debt burden, reduced external competitiveness and persistent high unemployment are being aggravated in our view by the ongoing eurozone crisis, a more protracted recession across Europe, and lower domestic growth prospects”, S&P said in its press-release.

“We consider that this economic environment, including the persistence of low interest rates, will put pressure on domestic revenue growth for French banks in 2013-2014,” the agency added.

The recent economic data has indeed been saying that the second largest European economy is coming closer to a recession, agrees Anna Bodrova of Investcafe. “While it [France] remains one of the strongest European economies, the country is clearly suffering financial difficulties,” the analyst added.

Earlier this week the central Bank of France said the $2.56trln economy was set to contract 0.1% in 3Q, which will mark the first quarter of contraction since the start of 2009.

Another economic benchmark released this week was a preliminary Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) that is used as an indicator of business activity. Despite a slight improvement in October to 44.8 from a September reading of 43.2, the figure showed the French economy remained under pressure.

Any figures below 50 signal contraction.

“The latest Flash PMI data for France indicate a lack of any significant improvement from the severe weakness seen in September. With GDP looking likely to have contracted in Q3, the latest poor figures suggest that the downward momentum has been carried over into Q4 and the economy could well end the year in recession. A further weakening of business sentiment in the service sector to its lowest since the start of 2009 underlines the pervasive gloom among businesses at present as uncertainty drags on and investment decisions are delayed accordingly,” Jack Kennedy, Senior Economist at Markit and author of the Flash France PMI, commented in the report.

The country’s Government also cut its official forecast for the next year, with France’s President Francois Hollande saying the economy was expected to grow just a notch above zero – about 0.8% – which compares to a 1.2% expansion forecast before.

Global Noise takes on austerity: 'We are not going to be silent'

Demonstrators across the world are calling for an end to austerity as Global Noise protests kick off in more than 30 countries, including many in the Nobel Peace laureate European Union.

The worldwide demonstrations on Saturday passed without incident, and Caleb Maupin from the International Action Centre explained what's driving the public to take to the streets.

RT: A year ago Occupy Wall Street spread across the world, and now it’s Global Noise. What is Global Noise all about? How is it different?

Caleb Maupin: Basically, Global Noise is saying we are not going to be silent. Because right now the banks are coming for us – they are cutting all of the programs. There is mass unemployment. There is cutting in government spending and the governments of the world are just having to pay back the banks.

And in the process, our future is being destroyed. It is impossible to get an education in this country without a rising debt. What we are saying is that we are going to be a global noise. We are the next generation, the youth part of the working class as our future is being destroyed. We are not going to silently sit back and let them destroy our future. We are going to be loud. We are going to be confrontational and we are going demand that this stop.

Austerity is a crime against the people. These cuts are a crime against us, and we are going to demonstrate and we are going to oppose it.

RT: America has not seen austerity cuts as of yet. But in Europe this is precisely what the Global Noise rallies were aimed against. Is it merely a show of support for Europe, or is there, say, a message in the demonstrations for the US presidential candidates?

CM: There are plenty of austerity cuts in the United States. Food stamps, a program which many millions of people depend on so they can have food, is being cut. College prices are going up. They had kind of halted it because they are planning after the elections to have austerity. All the major cuts are going to happen after the election.

But even with these latest debates, you see Romney and Ryan, Obama and Biden, they are all debating how much to cut. How responsibly can you get rid of Social Security, how responsibly can we do it? It is austerity, it is global austerity. Because, you know, Lenin spoke of it in his book – imperialism is the highest stage of capitalism, because the banks kind of become the center of capitalism, its monopoly stage.

And right now it is a revolt against banks. Instead of people having to take all these cuts, why don’t they simply start the cuts to the banks? The government of the United States has the ability to do that. They can pass legislature saying that the banks have to be delayed, but instead they keep paying back the banks with these loans that have taken from the government, and programs that people need to survive on are being cut.

At a time of mass unemployment, millions of youth have great anger on what’s going on, and it is exploding into a global anti-capitalist rebellion. It is here in US. The phrase "we are the 99%" represents what millions of people understand, which is that a small elite, the bankers, capitalists, they own the world and the rest of us just get to live in it.

Well, it is time that we are heard. We are a global noise and we are going to rise up and demand a change to that situation.

RT: Presidential elections are coming up in the US and the Obama administration is criticized for the bailout, while Republicans are promising austerity. And what do you think the policy should be for the US here?

CM: I think whoever wins this election, it is very clear that after the election, it's over. They are going to begin an extreme amount of mass austerity. And the terms of the debate are sickening – the terms of the debate are essentially how much to cut. Some people say, we should just cut everything; others say we should just cut a little bit. No! The people don’t have to pay for the crisis the bankers created.

But that message is not part of the discourse in this country right now. The discourse is limited to one form of cutting or one form of cutbacks, and that is frightening. And that is why the Occupy movement came in. We are the 99%, or as the labor movement and progressive forces have said for a long time – class against class.

It is not Republicans versus Democrats. It is about the bankers versus the people – the people who sell their labor to survive and those who own the world.
