21st Century Censorship

Opinion by: Stewart Brennan

Topic today – Facebook censorship

I don't like Facebook because it is highly censored and will get even worse in the coming weeks and months. However, I still use facebook (Fakebook) in hopes that some truthful thing I’ve shared will resonate with others even through their heavy censorship...I hope to help build a better world for the next generation to come; therefore communication is a priority to making that world a reality...

Mass Communication

If a social media platform comes around that allows mass communication with their subscribers then that will be a real social media platform worthy of joining and an asset to investigative journalists and the truth seeking public...barring that, there is not one up and coming social media platform, that I know of, that will allow mass communication with all their subscribers as YouTube once did...so I’m stuck on Facebook until one comes along.

As far as other social networks go, the creators are not offering their subscribers mass communication either. These new and old platforms are in it for the money or to cast the illusion that you have an alternative...You don’t, at least no yet. I’m still waiting, but until that medium or platform arrives, I will continue to scream at the top of the mountain hoping my echo will catch ears…

As far as Facebook goes, news feeds, groups and mass communication died long ago...Facebook sided with the Orwellian deep state that is pushing the World into a corporate totalitarian governance that does not like its sociopathic authority questioned…I will not go silently into the night…and neither should you.

Here'a a Poem by the activist Poet that touches on Facebook's authoritarian program of censorship.

Ever have a Facebook moment? See if this short poem rings true with you, and if it does, share it. ;)

Poem by ~ The Activist Poet ~

Facebook Row

Another Facebook time-out, they didn’t like what I said,
nor the posted pictures, of the terrorists who are dead.

I’m in political limbo, I’m not allowed to post,
Jailed by Facebook’s police, barred from coast to coast.

Caught by deep state censors, my words they say are bad,
I’m not allowed to use good terms for Putin or Assad.

My news feeds one-way traffic, visits are all blank,
Unless I bow to extortion, and pay them from my bank.

Their advertisers hound me, I mark them all as Spam,
Greedy corporate pages of belligerent Uncle Sam.

Suggested friends make me shudder, who the F*** is that?
with pages blank and empty, another troll or rat.

I plan my re-emergence, Palestine posts are due,
I’m sure to piss off Zionists, facebook's other shoe.

So here I wait in penance, eager to do much more,
and celebrate my family, all activists to the core.

About this Poem: Facebook is not a social network anymore, in fact it’s more of a US Intelligence program and corporate data mining tool / application that either penalizes users who do not fall in line with their politics, or data mines information while extorting small businesses for money.

Ask any activist who’s been isolated for their political posts or ask a musician who now has to pay out money for his page posts to reach those who already subscribed to their updates. After paying Facebook for putting posts on more of the bands subscriber news feeds, bands find themselves out of pocket with no real results, as its all just a numbers game and scam.

Now, Facebook has partnered with Fascist Dictatorship nations like Israel to censor what we can see or say. Together they become Orwell’s “Big Brother”…so being the Political Activist I am, here’s a middle finger; an F U Salute to Facebook and its censorship Regime and sponsors…

Facebook shuts pro-Palestinian page

US-based social networking website Facebook has obliterated a page that advocated a 'third Intifada (uprising)' in reaction to Israel's persisting measures to trample on the rights of the Palestinian people.

The Tuesday move came after 350,000 people endorsed the campaign by 'liking' the page and many of its entries received thousands of comments, reported Ynetnews, the website for the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth.

The move came after Israel's Minister of Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Yuli Edelstein addressed Facebook's creator Mark Zuckerberg in a letter, pleading with him to remove the page.

The Facebook campaign had stated that "Palestine will be freed and we will free it," advocating the uprising against Tel Aviv's occupation of the Palestinian lands and its continued suppression of the Palestinian population.

A total of 6,200 Palestinians died during their first Intifada between 1987 and 1993 and the second one in the 2000s -- both fiercely confronted by Israel.

The page had also called for a march towards Palestine on May 15, which marks the anniversary of Israel's occupation of the Palestinian homelands in 1948.

The year witnessed the Israeli regime fabricating its existence, mainly backed by the US, Britain and France, in a full-scale military offensives against Arab nations in the region.

The operations forced over 711,000 Palestinians out of their homeland. A 2008 report estimates the number of Palestinian refugees at over 4.6 million.

'Corporate mafia grab Twitter, Facebook'

Source: Press TV

The existing social networks on the internet can no longer be reliable platforms for organizing anti-government uprisings, because corporate cartels are beginning to own them, a political analyst says.

“You cannot rely on Facebook and Twitter …. [because] those avenues and weapons have already been corrupted by Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan,” David DeGraw from AmpedStatus.com told Press TV.

Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan are among the gigantic corporations, infamous for their corrupt records across the world.

Corrupt global cartels are beginning to seize the ownership of such networks on the internet to neutralize their “amazing” effects in organizing the ongoing anti-government uprisings across the world, he said.

“Goldman Sachs has just caught a deal with Facebook to be its major shareholder and JP Morgan is moving to be a shareholder of Twitter,” DeGraw mentioned.

This is while the popular uprisings against the dictatorial regimes are in fact uprisings against the current global economic system, in which the IMF gives such corrupt corporations a free rein over the regimes and economies in those countries, he added.

DeGraw argued, “We need platforms that cannot be gained and corrupted by Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan as Facebook and Twitter are being right now.”

In the past two months, anti-government revolts have been spreading across the Arab world. The popular uprisings have mostly been organized via internet social networks.

Last month in Tunisia, nationwide outrage at the government's suppressive policies sparked a massive revolution that ended the 23-year rule of its despotic president, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and forced him to flee to Saudi Arabia.

On February 11, a millions-strong nationwide revolution in Egypt, which started on January 25, ended the three-decade rule of US-backed dictator Hosni Mubarak.

Other anti-government uprisings have taken place in Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Jordan and Oman, as more Arab countries are expected to stage similar popular revolts.

Thousands protest Parliament's suspension

Thousands of people attended rallies in towns and cities across Canada on Saturday to speak out against Prime Minister Stephen Harper's decision to suspend Parliament until March.

More than 60 rallies were planned across Canada, with protests also slated for London, England, and several U.S. cities.

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff addressed the crowd on Parliament Hill on Saturday afternoon, commending protesters for their campaign to send MPs back to work.

"This is a demonstration that shows that Canadians understand their democracy, care for their democracy, and if necessary will fight for their democracy," Ignatieff said. "This demonstration does not belong to the politicians of any party, it belongs to the Canadian people."

MPs were supposed to return to work Jan. 25 after a holiday break, but Harper said he moved to delay the resumption of Parliament in order to focus on strategies for Canada's economy.

Ignatieff said Liberal MPs will be back at work Monday, despite the prorogation, to hold public meetings.

Layton calls for prorogation limits

NDP Leader Jack Layton also addressed the crowd in Ottawa, reiterating his call for a new law that would limit any prime minister’s power to prorogue Parliament.

Layton also called on the prime minister to recall Parliament and send MPs back to work.
"I get the impression that you’d like your representatives to be at work on your behalf starting tomorrow," Layton told the cheering crowd. "Sorry … Monday — we’re jumping the gun."

RCMP officials in Ottawa estimated that roughly 3,500 people took part in the rally on Parliament Hill.

Thousands of protesters gathered at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto to protest the suspension of Parliament. Some took the demonstration onto the street, chanting and waving placards as they marched down Yonge Street.

Rallies were also staged Saturday in Regina and Saskatoon, and attracted several hundred people. In Regina, about 200 people gathered on a downtown pedestrian street.

"It's about the masses and their voice being heard," Sonya Stanger,18, said. "You know, representation of the masses, and that's not what's happening right now."

Also in Regina, three people — who kept a respectful distance from the main group — held signs showing support for Harper. Their presence was noted with a smattering of boos from the crowd.

However, a speaker said the point of the rally was to support democracy and implored people to respect differing points of view.

In Halifax, several hundred people shouted anti-Harper slogans in front of Province House in the city's downtown.

"We can't use prorogation to run from our problems. Canada knows that that can't happen and we're making sure that they all know that too," said Brendan Sommerhalder, one of the organizers of the Halifax rally.

In Calgary, a group of protesters gathered outside the prime minister’s constituency office.

The anti-prorogation movement gained momentum after a Facebook group was created condemning Harper's decision to suspend the parliamentary session.

More than 200,000 people have joined the site and rally organizers used the social networking medium to help organize Saturday’s protests.
