A US Federal Judge has a message for al-Qaeda, the Taliban and the Islamic Republic of Iran: pay up. Federal Magistrate Judge Frank Maas ruled that those three entities must compensate victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks to the tune of $6 billion.

From Manhattan on Monday, Judge Maas ruled that relatives of the nearly 3,000 people killed during the September 11 terrorist attacks shall be awarded a total of $6 billion from three groups of defendants determined by a separate judge last year. Previously Federal Judge George Daniels ruled that al-Qaeda, the Taliban regime and the Iranian government were accountable for the tragedy, although Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has denied any connection on his country’s part. This week Judge Maas put a monetary number to that damage.

In the latest ruling, Judge Maas calls the defendants “entities that carried out, or aided and abetted” in 9/11 and that they should be responsible for paying the families of those killed. And while some are admitting that collecting that award is almost quite literally impossible, others involved in the suit seem confident that further actions will help them see a paycheck in a matter of months.

“I never was in this for the money. I wanted accountability,” plaintiff Ellen Saracini tells the New York Daily News. “The money will never bring back my husband, so I don’t care about it.”

Saracini’s husband, Victor Saracini, was the pilot onboard the plane that crashed into the south tower of the World Trade Center. She tells reporters that “It’s hard being happy,” but is still pleased by the outcome in court this week.

“We were never in it for a lawsuit,” she says. “I wanted to know what happened to my husband.”

“It just didn’t seem like our government was moving forward in trying to determine who was responsible for these attacks,” Saracini continues. “Maybe the mindset will change now, but I doubt it.”

Others say that the accountability isn’t all they want, though, and expect to see compensation in the near future.

“Now we have to go about the business of collecting this money both domestically and overseas,” attorney Thomas Mellon tells Pennsylvania’s The Intelligencer. “We are very hopeful that in the next six to 18 months we will be in the process of seizing Iranian assets, such as Iranian airlines, oil tankers and wells.”

Mellon says that even a decade after the terrorist attacks, most Americans are unaware of whom the government faulted. “The average American citizen doesn’t yet realize that a major player in the Sept. 11 attacks was Iran and Hezbollah,” the attorney insists. He adds to the Daily News, however, that “in the terror world,” collecting compensation like this “is uncharted territory.”

If all goes accordingly, the Saracini family will see $9.5 million under the judge’s order. Collecting that sum from known insurgents is with certainly a task unfit for a federal judge from Manhattan, however, which has already prompted the Associated Press to consider the ruling “largely symbolic.”

I lay the following information in your eyes and ears by the people who were IN THE BUILDINGS on that day! The ONLY people that could have long term access to the Buildings to set explosive charges and demolish these buildings were the US Shadow Government…look at who this benefits and you will find their partner in crime. The evidence is overwhelming that this was an inside job!!

Human rights activists have pledged to be hot on the heels of former US President George W. Bush wherever he makes a trip to.

"The reach of the Convention Against Torture is wide -- this case is prepared and will be waiting for him wherever he travels next," AFP quoted Katherine Gallagher, an attorney and vice president of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), as saying on Monday.

Rights groups state that criminal complaints against Bush over alleged torture have been lodged in Geneva, Switzerland.

The former US president reportedly had to call off his trip to Switzerland because of the risk that he could be taken in to be questioned for war crimes and torture.

"Swiss law requires the presence of the torturer on Swiss soil before a preliminary investigation can be opened," said the Paris-based FIDH along with the European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights and the Centre for Constitutional Rights.

A statement issued by the rights groups pointed out that "When Bush cancelled his trip to avoid prosecution, the human rights groups who prepared the complaints made (them) public and announced that the Bush torture indictment would be waiting wherever he travels next."

New York-based Human Rights Watch has said that US officials themselves should file criminal charges against Bush.

"The US government should take the lead to investigate former US President George W. Bush and other senior officials for authorizing torture of terrorism suspects rather than leaving prosecutions to other countries," the NGO said.

Waterboarding is one of the so-called harsh interrogation techniques approved during Bush's presidency to be used against prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as those held at the US prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Human rights groups maintain that waterboarding, a form of simulated drowning, is illegal under the Geneva Conventions.

Governmental documents indicate that former US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, among other US officials, played a role in the torture policies in the notorious Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

In his new autobiography, Rumsfeld says Abu Ghraib's prisoner abuse was perpetrated by rogue soldiers, despite governmental documents hinting at pro-torture policies issued by senior US officials, such as Rumsfeld, himself.

"There were decisions made by Secretary Rumsfeld, himself, and by other members of the Bush cabinet to endorse torture to allow the use of interrogation methods that in the past, the United States had regarded as war crimes," Hameel Jaffer told Press TV's US Desk in an interview.

As a result of these policies, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay, and other worldwide US-run detention facilities have used severe torture techniques, previously regarded as war crimes in the United States.

Since 2004, numerous accounts of “systematic and illegal abuses of detainees” have been reported. Cases including rape, torture, and murder have been among those reported.

An estimated 1,300,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed, while about 4.7 million have been displaced since the US-led invasion of the country in 2003.

During these seven years, 4,436 US troops have been reported as being killed.

A US rights group has filed a lawsuit charging former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld with involvement in torturing former prisoners in American prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan.

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) catapulted the torture case into prominence on Thursday after it lodged an appeal to a court in the District of Columbia, alleging that Rumsfeld and some senior US military officials were quite aware of a torture case involving nine detainees between 2002 and 2004 in American prisons in the two countries, AFP reported.

The case initially was brought forth in December 2006, but later on was withdrawn by a federal court in March 2007 on the grounds that the ex-defense secretary and other top American military officials were immune from prosecution.

The US-based human rights group stated that under the Constitution and international law, torture is strictly prohibited and commanders are obliged to act when they know or should have known of such abuses.

The ACLU argued that the 78-year-old Rumsfeld and other military officials were repeatedly notified of abuse and torture at detention facilities in Iraq and Afghanistan by the International Red Cross and other reports as well as complaints by human rights organizations, thus they are directly responsible for the abuses.

The group further touched upon a case involving a prisoner identified as Ali.V, adding that prisoners, who were later released without charge, “were beaten, tortured, and sexually abused.”

Meanwhile, three judges at an appeals court in the District of Columbia said the case has a little chance to succeed.

The remarks came as a group of activists, each wearing black hoods and orange jumpsuits representing the prisoners at the US prison camp in Guantanamo Bay staged a rally in front of the court room on Thursday to protest against negligence over the torture case.

Rumsfeld is currently putting finishing touches on the release of his memoire book titled “Known and unknown”, which is due to hit bookshelves in the US on 8 February.

Senior US government lawyers of the Bush administration schemed to circumvent the Geneva Conventions in order to torture the Guantanamo detainees more aggressively, a certified Queen's Counsel says.

In an interview with Press TV, Philip Sands, the author of Torture Team, blamed lawyers close to former Vice President Dick Cheney and former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld for marginalizing international laws to sanction the torture of detainees at US-run prisons.

Sands cited a memo that Rumsfeld signed on December 2, 2002 as proof of the US officials' crime. The memo sought to help the US government coerce imprisoned suspected terrorists into revealing intelligence.

The memo authorized the use of controversial practices that were later employed at prisons in Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.

Many human rights activists have criticized these techniques, saying they are in violation of international definitions of torture such as Common Article 3 of the 1941 Geneva Conventions.

In 2006, the US Supreme Court ruled that President George W. Bush's decision to waive the Geneva Conventions was wrong and illegal.

I’m left wondering what is to come, as I turn on the autocratic news channels where flashes of War, Disease, Poverty, Famine, and the latest laws that push for a Police State are there to greet my mind and sting my soul. I am wanting, for an end to it. I thought we all wanted the same thing…to live our lives peacefully with everyone else. But it seems our government’s do not believe in peace and must make our lives miserable.

Mainstream media are in collusion with their content controlling advertisers to sway the minds of their audience using a program of propaganda that skillfully chooses images, videos, and poisonous scripts to push an evil narrative approved by a crumbling economic cartel and their dream of a “A New World Order”.

To speak out against this New World Order and its supporters is to be labeled an enemy, a traitor, a racist, a holocaust denier or a conspiracy theorist. This kind of verbal attack is comparative to a rabid dog foaming at the mouth. It is fascist in nature because there is no free speech unless you support their singular Nationalist agenda.

All over the Western World, Politicians have reduced their communication with the people to vile trickery. Political puppets pledge allegiance to the corporate lobby groups, and cast their citizens into the furnace of war, poverty and police state while stating it is the right thing to do. Are we the people, to lose another generation to War, while we watch moral values, and human rights put to death one at a time?

Our way of life has been under the microscope for a long time. Mainstream TV tells us what to eat, what to drink, that we need, who to trust and who to hate. They tell us what is good and what is bad.

And they know what lies we will believe because they tell us what to believe, and so they manipulate and bait us through a carefully programmed narrative. Today’s news will contain what you must believe because to believe otherwise would be to side with the enemy. "Are you not patriotic?"

Well I say, “I am patriotic, I'm patriotic to the human race, not to vile monsters that want to destroy a part of it!"

The United Nations will meet this coming week, where the five Permanent members of the “UN Security Council” (The USA, Britain, France, China, and Russia) will vote on sending this case to the International Criminal Court of Justice.

Dictatorship by the Security Council:

The recent political moves by US President Barack Obama, and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown suggest that neither the US or Britain are in favor of sending Israel to face War Crimes charges and will use their veto power to side with Israel and deny a War Crimes Trial to take place.

If this scenario plays out, or the Security Council votes against sending Israel to the International Criminal Court of Justice, then the World will have abandoned the moral principals set down by the Nuremberg trials after World War two. In short, it will be as if the Security Council pardoned the NAZI’S from the atrocities they committed during World War two.

Don’t expect the Western News media to report on this important topic or fight for what is right, because they are controlled by the same economic cartel that owns the corporate sponsors as well as the puppet politicians. We already know where they stand and whom they support. They sure do not support moral values.

UN Foundation:

The foundation for the United Nations to even exist in the first place is based on the outcome of World War 2 and the desire to end aggressive War permanently. The Nuremberg trials were a testament to that fact with higher moral ideals adopted as the governing principals...at least that was what I was programmed with.

NO COUNTRY IS ABOVE THE LAW!

It is imperative that we the people make this known to ALL members of the UN. If the Security Council does NOT send Israel to The Hague to face War Crimes Charges, then this will send the wrong signal to the World and the United Nations charter will disintegrate and no longer apply to any member state. It will ultimately unravel the last true World forum of Peace, Hope and Cooperation among nations.

Israel must be sent to “The Hague” to face charges for War Crimes, and Crimes Against Humanity or we will no longer have a United Nations or UN Charter that guarantees equality for “ALL NATIONS”. Don’t let the Security Council vote against morality.

The peace of the World is at stake! Send a letter of reprimand to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and the High Commissioner for Human Rights “Navi Pillay”. Please urge your president, prime minister, king or what ever title they go by, to push for this War Crimes Trial against Israel! The future for your children and / or grand children depends on it!
