Victory for Palestine and the People of the World: “We are all Palestinian”

By: Stewart Brennan
World United News

On November 21st, 2012 we were witness to an agreement of peace between the government of Hamas in the Gaza strip, and the Israeli government; a MAJOR breakthrough for global peace.

However, it is important to note that the reason why this peace treaty was reached between the two sides in the first place was due to the massive outcry by ordinary people around the World…the voice that cried out at every protest on every street around the World, “The People United, Will Never Be Defeated”!

A Lasting Peace?

If we are to see a lasting peace in the Middle East we will need to see the total cessation of hostilities between Israel and the people of Gaza, but also, this cessation must include ending the hostile starvation blockade placed on Gaza by Israel and its supporting Western Governments.

The terms of the peace agreement reveal that the air, land, and sea blockade will be lifted by Israel…so this is a MAJOR step forward IF the Israelis remain true to their word…only time will tell. For the time being however, we must rejoice that significant progress has been made for the besieged people of Gaza.

Choices and Requirements for Lasting Peace:

Requirements for a lasting Peace throughout all of Palestine and Israel must also include an end to all illegal settlements, occupations, including a cessation of hostility towards the people, that is, of course, if a two state solution is still being supported. If so, then Israel must return to 1967 borders as stated by the United Nations and its general assembly.

Let’s be realistic about this, the two state solution has no possibility of working because the Israeli government and the settlers will refuse to give up any of the land they have seized from the Palestinians, and the Palestinians will refuse to concede the land that was taken from them, so there is no possible way to do this unless both sides are forced to do it at gunpoint.

The problems faced in the region today go back to the errors made by the United Nations in 1948 when they created the State of Israel by carving it out of Palestine. In essence, the two state solution was a UN Security Council decision which is at the heart of this problem.

The "One State Solution", dominated by the Israeli's or by the Palestinian's is also not acceptable because it is a recipe for total disaster. Dominance by either side would be destructive because it is totally divisional, militaristic, driven by fanaticism and powered by a warlike nationalist mindset. Taking this path leads to an endless war between both sides that could quickly lead to regional war and or a global conflict, so this path must be avoided at all costs.

Real Solution for Lasting Peace

The only real solution for the region is the one that nobody is talking about and that is a “Reunification of Palestine” where ALL THE PEOPLE, within the old borders of Palestine, rule together. Shared power would mean a democratic process for all the inhabitants regardless of faith or ethnicity, and it would mean freedom of worship, freedom of movement, and the right to live for all.

The reunification solution also calls for the creation of provinces within the state, where for example, one region could be called Israel, another Gaza, etc. This option requires that ALL POLITICAL FACTIONS make concessions in the name of peace, prosperity, respect, and unity. This option is the true path to peace in the Middle East and for that matter the road to global peace that I am sure is supported by a large majority of the people.

Back to the Present Reality

There’s one thing that Israel and the Western leaders did not expect when they gave Israel the authorization to attack the people of Gaza, and that was the backlash from a growing political awakening by people around the world.

Communication with each other VIA the Internet has fostered the awakening of a global consciousness that is dynamic in the social, political, and ethical spheres; and it was this global consciousness that forced the World leaders to pressure Israel into a peace treaty on November 21st, 2012. It will be a day remembered when the global majority spoke out with one voice on the World’s Political stage.

On this day, the global collective declared themselves to be Palestinian.

Common Sense

If the UN is going to hold onto any credibility with the citizens of the world, then the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council must be unanimous in recognizing Palestine and the needs of all people throughout the world. If they cannot agree to this simple fact then there simply will not be a need for the United Nations body, such as it is, anymore. It’s time to turn swords into ploughshares and evolve with the citizens of the World.

A transition period is always required, when bringing any new venture into reality, so let's move away from the standard process of extremes and move forward through gradual change towards a realistic goal.

Freedom for the Palestinian people is directly linked to the moral well being of the Worlds population and by the global political awakening that has put an Imperial driver in check.

There is a great deal of danger ahead for everyone, but we can rise together in unity and end the insanity that dictates the direction of the world simply by adding a moral consciousness to it.

The younger generation that is coming up will be a tidal wave of change…things will never go back to the way they were again. The economy and its stinging reality in hardship is beginning to hit home throughout Europe and North America, and that is causing more minds to open in the global consciousness.

The common foundation of all people in North America, Europe and the rest of the World, including those asleep, is moral perception and common sense based on education and upbringing. Social networks have given all of us a platform for education, where we can voice our opinions and interact in a spirit of sharing knowledge and most importantly, a chance to see what life is really like on the other side of the fence.
The internet has given rise to a consciousness that has united people in mind and spirit around the world...it is a global awakening…however there are many that have been left behind by the advances in global communication simply because they cannot escape the prisons of propaganda in their minds due to years of state programming. Many of my generation in North America (Baby Boomers) will pass with the old world beliefs, mainly because they are fearful of letting go of old programs. During the baby boom years people were only given a distorted one sided view of the World, so today’s information age can be a real challenge for those who are set in their ways. The younger generation, for the most part, has no such limit and is very quick to find out how the world works and who is running it. This is a generation that finds time on its hands to do extensive information research on the internet due to mass youth unemployment and rising costs for education. They are the future, and they are awake.

Global Identity

All around the World, people have evolved during the Information age and become more aware of the extremely criminal and fraudulent banking cartel that has systematically destroyed of their freedoms and liberties. When protesting the power elite and their monopoly, people are met with a militarized police force who use teargas, pepper spray, and rubber bullets to disperse them. The riot police are there to enforce the system and beat down any resistance to it. But it is also in this context of suffering that people begin to understand and identify with what it is like to be Palestinian, although it pales in comparison to the daily strife that the Palestinian people endure everyday under their brutal occupation by the Israelis.

Sticking with the current World Banking System is a recipe for disaster which only leads to extreme poverty. The people have had enough and will not allow the status quo to continue. Change is required across the board, be it in banking, institutional education, living conditions, or human rights. The people of the World have expressed their anger towards today's economic system controllers and have stated vociferously that they (we) are in complete solidarity with the Palestinian people. We are all Palestinian, and that means the people of the World want their freedom and independence from the totalitarian power structure that drives the world towards war. It is time for the voice of the people to enter the sphere of decision-making and to forge a new World that drives humanity towards a 1000 years of peace. Free Palestine, Free Gaza, Free the World!

Today, we are Palestinian.

The US voices outrage at the Syrian Army’s success in clearing Syria’s largest city of Aleppo of anti-Damascus armed groups.

US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said on Sunday that the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has lost all legitimacy by attacking the armed groups in the city.

"If they continue this kind of tragic attack on their own people in Aleppo, I think it ultimately will be a nail in Assad's own coffin," Panetta told reporters.

"What Assad has been doing to his own people and what he continues to do to his own people makes clear that his regime is coming to an end. It's lost all legitimacy," he added.

This is while Syrian security forces are clearing more areas across the country of militants.

The US official made the remarks ahead of a weeklong trip to the Middle East and North Africa.

The United States has said it is enlarging its assistance to Syria's fractured opposition. Also, according to Reuters, the White House will soon authorize greater covert assistance to the armed gangs.

Washington has already thrown its support behind Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey for arming the Syrian opposition.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. The country says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the unrest and deadly violence, while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.

Western states have been calling for Assad to step down. However, Russia and China are strongly opposed to the Western drive to oust the Syrian president.

Damascus says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country. There are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

Syrian security forces have attacked a militant hideout in the al-Hasakah countryside in the far northeast corner of the country.

Clashes continue between the Syrian Army and armed groups as security forces are clearing more areas of militants across the country.

The fighting is still underway in the northern city of Aleppo and the Syrian army regained control of the city's Sallaheddin neighborhood.

In the southwestern city of Dara’a, a large number of armed men were arrested while many other militants were killed, when they tried to cross into Syria from neighboring states of Jordan and Turkey.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem on Sunday reiterated that several countries in the region are aiding the anti-Syria militants.

"Syria is the target of a global plot whose agents are the countries in the region," Muallem said.

“We believe that all the anti-Syrian forces have gathered in Aleppo to fight the government… and they will definitely be defeated,” he added.

Syrian security forces have killed a large number of terrorists attempting to enter the country from neighboring Turkey.

The development comes as clashes continue between Syrian troops and foreign-sponsored armed gangs in the northwestern city of Aleppo.
The security forces have also foiled infiltration attempts by terrorists from Jordan, reports say.
In Aleppo, there has been fierce fighting in the southwestern neighborhoods of Salahuddin and Hamdaniya and the eastern neighborhood of Sakhour.
The Syrian army began a major operation on Saturday from the southwestern outskirts of Aleppo to clear the city of armed gangs.

On Sunday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said, “We believe that all the anti-Syrian forces have gathered in Aleppo to fight the government… and they will definitely be defeated.”

Muallem made the remarks in a joint press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Tehran.
Meanwhile, nearly 150 militants were killed during clashes with Syrian troops in the suburbs of the western city of Homs on Sunday.
Over the past few days, Syrian troops have reportedly inflicted heavy losses on militants in the southwestern city of Dara’a, about 114 kilometers (70 miles) south of the capital, Damascus.

The anti-Syria Western regimes have been calling for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down, but Russia and China remain strongly opposed to the Western drive to oust Assad.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on July 28, “Our Western partners… together with some of Syria’s neighbors are essentially encouraging, supporting and directing an armed struggle against [the Syrian government].”

Tymoshenko backers start sit-in in Kiev

Supporters of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko gather outside the Kiev court where her trial is being held on August 5, 2011.

Supporters of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko have started an indefinite sit-in to protest her detention until she is released.

Over 100 supporters, including members of parliament, have pitched about 30 tents near the courthouse in Kiev, vowing to continue their sit-in until Tymoshenko is released, AFP reported.

Meanwhile Tymoshenko's right-hand man, Olexander Turchinov, has said the protests could lead to a repeat of the 2004 Orange Revolution that could be victorious by September.

Ukrainian prosecutors have charged Tymoshenko with abuse of office, accusing her of illegally forcing state energy company Naftogaz to sign a gas supply contract with Russia in 2009.

The former prime minister has repeatedly denied the charges, saying that the trial is part of a plot devised by her archrival, President Viktor Yanukovych.

The judge in her trial ordered her placed under arrest for contempt of court on Friday.

The current charges carry a sentence of between seven and 10 years in prison.

Over 400 officials are currently on trial in Ukraine, but Tymoshenko is the most prominent figure being prosecuted.

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has been taken to a detention center on the orders of the judge at her trial for “systematically violating courtroom proceedings.”

After Judge Rodion Kireyev adjourned the court until Monday, Tymoshenko was driven away from the court under a heavy police escort on Friday, with members of the opposition chanting “Shame,” Reuters reported.

Hundreds of her supporters took to the streets of downtown Kiev, and Tymoshenko's party has called for members of her bloc to stage more rallies in front of the courthouse in the capital.

Ukrainian prosecutors charged Tymoshenko with abuse of office, accusing her of illegally forcing state energy company Naftogaz to sign a gas supply contract with Russia in 2009.

Tymoshenko is Ukraine's leading opposition politician and the most formidable opponent of pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovich, who says her actions in the gas deal with Russia were a “betrayal of national interests.”

The former prime minister has repeatedly denied the accusations.

Since the start of the trial in June, Tymoshenko has openly mocked Judge Kireyev in the courtroom, refusing to stand when addressing him and calling him “Yanukovich's puppet.”

The European Union has also censured Ukraine for putting Tymoshenko on trial for her criticism of the president's policy, saying that the European country “must do more to show its commitment to rule of law and put an end to such spurious proceedings.”

Tymoshenko, who twice served as prime minister between 2005 and 2010, says the case against her is “politically motivated” and has been “fabricated on the orders of Yanukovich,” who only narrowly defeated her in last year's presidential election.

Over 400 officials are currently on trial in Ukraine, but Tymoshenko is the most prominent figure being prosecuted.

Objector/rapper dismissed by US Army

A soldier who protested at his redeployment through a rap song communicated to the higher-ups has been dismissed by the US Army for misconduct.

Angered by the extension of his service, Marc A. Hall had told his battalion commander that he might shoot or otherwise attack a fellow US soldier, the Associated Press reported on Saturday.

A menace-laden rap song he had recorded and sent to the Army's personnel office in July 2009 attracted considerable attention to his case.

"I got a (expletive) magazine with 30 rounds, on a three-round burst, ready to fire down. …Still against the wall, I grab my M-4, spray and watch all the bodies hit the floor," he had rapped in the recording.

However, on Saturday Couragetoresist.org, a support organization for military objectors, called the dismissal a "joyous victory" and said the Army put Hall in custody after he said he could not afford the required mental readiness for combat and used the song as a "pretext."

His civilian lawyer, David Gespass, said, "The song was a way for him to sort of vent."

"He was, I think, less and less happy about the idea even of having a weapon and using it," he added

Yanukovich claims victory in Ukraine run-off

Source: PressTV
http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=118145&sectionid=351020606

Ukraine's opposition leader Viktor Yanukovich has claimed victory in the country's presidential run-off vote, while rival Yulia Tymoshenko has refused to concede.

With almost 80 percent of votes counted, Yanukovich so far has a narrow lead of nearly four percentage points over Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who is trailing with 45.87 percent of the ballot, the election commission said Monday.

However, Tymoshenko's camp has rejected the results, saying their "parallel count" sees them edging out their pro-Russian rival by 0.8 percent.

Even though the controversial vote has been monitored by 500 international observers, both candidates have accused each other of plotting to rig the vote.

Earlier in the day Yanukovich claimed victory and called on Tymoshenko, 49, to resign as prime minister.

"I think that Yulia Tymoshenko should prepare to resign. She understands that well," Yanukovich said in a television interview.

But looking stern before reporters, the co-architect of the 2004 Orange Revolution, urged her team to "fight for every result, every document and every vote."

She however stopped short of repeating her last week's threat that she'll "rally people" if she loses the race.

The bitterly contested presidential election resembles the October 2004 election in which fraud allegations triggered the Orange Revolution, leading to the cancelation of Yanukovich's official victory.

A re-run vote then propelled Tymoshenko and her then-ally President Viktor Yushchenko to power.

However, a sliding economy and five years of bitter political infighting has turned the "Orange" euphoria into frustration and disappointment.
