The vice chairman of Turkey’s Workers’ Party says the recent anti-Syria measures are part of a bigger project of the United States that could even lead to World War III, Press TV reports.

In an interview with Press TV on Friday, Hasan Basri Ozbey stated that the US and its key allies, such as Britain and France, are implementing a project to change the borders of some countries in the Middle East.

He noted that the Western measures against Syria could lead to the disintegration of the country, which could consequently fuel unrest in other countries in the Middle East.

Ozbey stated that the crisis in Syria can only be resolved through a solution devised inside Syria, noting that any foreign intervention in the country by regional countries or countries outside the Middle East would only exacerbate the situation.

He added that the Syrian government seems determined to resolve the crisis through the reform process, which has already begun.

Ozbey warned that the proposal to arm the “so-called Syrian opposition forces will only trigger terrorist attacks” in the country, and noted that there is no military solution to the crisis in Syria.
