Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is scheduled to travel to the United States to meet with the US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry said that the visit was to take place between February 8 and 12 at Clinton’s invitation.
Davutoglu will also meet with the US National Security Advisor Thomas Donilon, representatives of various think tanks, and opinion leaders. He as well will give interviews to some leading media organizations.
According to the statement, the meetings will serve as an opportunity for the exchange of views on the bilateral, regional, and global issues of common interest.
This will be Davutoglu's third trip to Washington. He went to the US in June 2009 and November 2010 to hold negotiations with high-level administration officials and representatives of the US Congress.
