The US economy takes another turn for the worse as newly released official statistics show that the jobless rate in the country has remained unchanged over the past month.
The US Labor Department said on Friday that employers had added no jobs in August and that the unemployment rate remained at 9.1 percent, AFP reported.
The new information shows that August is the first month of zero job growth in the United States since 1945.
The Labor Department data also revealed little change in the private sector, the last hope for jobs growth amid layoffs by revenue-strapped government companies.
Analysts had already lowered their expectations for job growth, estimating a net average of 70,000 in August -- below the 100,000 needed to support a steady unemployment rate, Briefing.com reported.
