Brazilian officials have announced that the recent floods in the country have left nearly 100,000 people homeless in four southeastern states.
Regional civil defense officials said on Saturday that Minas Gerais state, where 16 people were reported dead as of Friday, is the hardest hit area.
In Sao Paulo state, 57 cities, including the capital, are in a state of emergency. Eleven people were killed in the state, the Associated Press reported.
Southeastern Brazil has been hit by weeks of heavy flooding and mudslides caused by torrential rains.
Rescue teams are searching for bodies and survivors in the worst affected areas as weather forecasts predict more rain in the region in the coming days.
Over 470 people died across Brazil due to heavy rain and flooding last year and 7.8 million people were affected.
