A demonstration by Dutch students has turned violent briefly after they clashed with riot police outside parliament in protest at education spending cuts.
Clashes erupted in The Hague on Friday after some protesters started to throw stones at the parliament building.
Police, some riding horses, used batons to disperse the protesters and herd them away from parliament.
No injuries were reported, and there was no immediate word on any arrests, according to the Associated Press.
Thousands of students had held peaceful demonstrations earlier in the day.
Hundreds of professors also joined the rally after many universities called off classes on Friday.
The rally was against education spending cuts which will force students to pay more if they fail to graduate on schedule.
The government says budget cuts will be matched by investments aimed at improving the quality of education.
