Turkey has urged Israel to "completely" lift the Gaza blockade, saying Tel Aviv's recent decision to ease the blockade is not enough.

Turkish foreign ministry issued a statement on Monday, describing the blockade of Gaza "inhumane," the Associated Press reported.

In June 2007, Israel laid an economic siege on the Gaza Strip after Hamas was elected to run the coastal sliver.

The siege has caused a humanitarian disaster in the impoverished Gaza and caused many deaths due to food shortage and lack of medicine.

Turkish government has stressed that it will continue sending aid to the region, despite a deadly attack by Israel on a flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.

On May 31, Israel waged a deadly attack on Freedom Flotilla, killing 9 Turkish activists and injuring about 50 others.

Turkey has declared that it will sever all its ties with Israel, unless Tel Aviv apologizes over the attack.
