As Turkey mourns the death of activists by Israeli forces, Turkey's Prime Minister considers travelling to the Gaza Strip to break the siege on the sliver personally.

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Mustaqbal reported on Saturday that Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan told close associates about his plan to visit the strip to "break the Israeli blockade."

He reportedly informed the US that he considers asking the Turkish navy to accompany aid ships sailing to the Gaza Strip in the future, a plan Washington advised to delay.

Turkey has also formed a commission to investigate Israel's Monday attack on the Freedom Flotilla which left nine Turkish nationals killed.

Namik Tan, Turkish Ambassador to the US, wrote on the Washington Post earlier that "this was the first such attack against civilian Turkish citizens by a foreign military force in our republic's 87-year history."

Ankara demanded an apology by Tel Aviv, a measure Israel said it would not take.

The Gaza Freedom Flotilla, which was stormed by Israeli troops on May 31, attempted to deliver 10,000 tons of humanitarian supplies to the besieged people of Gaza.

The brutal assault carried out by Israeli commandos left more than 40 others injured.
