Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has once again condemned an Israeli attack on a Gaza-bound aid convoy as "brutal," urging decisive action against Israel.
In a speech in the western province of Ilam on Tuesday, President Ahmadinejad said that the "brutal" attack on the convoy was "in contravention of human values, [international] law and justice."
Ahmadinejad further pointed out that Western countries' support of Tel Aviv was the root cause of Israeli aggression against Palestinians.
He also blamed certain Arab countries for failing to stand up against Israel, reiterating that the silence of certain Arab rulers has further emboldened Tel Aviv in committing crimes against Palestinians.
President Ahmadinejad called upon the members of the UN Security Council to adopt a "decisive resolution" to stop Israeli crimes.
According to the Iranian president, the recent Israeli attack is a test for the UN Security Council to prove its efficiency if it seeks to protect its reputation.
The international flotilla was carrying more than 10, 000 tons of relief supplies, including food and construction material, for the besieged people of Gaza.
The operation claimed the lives of at least 20 people on board the ships, mostly Turkish nationals, and left about 50 others injured, according to Palestinian sources.
