Three US soldiers are among the eight people that were killed Wednesday in a powerful explosion in Pakistan's volatile northwest.
The American service members were reportedly in the region to train Pakistani troops.
The explosion, which rocked the Lower Dir district, brought down the roof of a nearby school. At least three students were also killed. Several others are still believed to be trapped under the rubble.
"The carnage at the school in Lower Dir clearly shows the terrorists' vision," said a US embassy statement.
Police say 45 people were wounded as a result of the explosion. The blast targeted a military convoy that was taking aid workers and journalists to a local school.
Militants have previously attacked US diplomats and facilities in Pakistan.
